Show ACl'IOKT LIME linen exchange hours Change Would it be to the hours of 0 until the boxes are picked up, the recycle people or the employee? Al - Q " Enforce curfew in housing would like to see a curfew imposed and enforced base housing. I had to run off a band of nine s to 12 because they were raising Cain when my kids were trying to sleep. They run through the housing areas, bikes are stolen, damage is done. I have had three bikes stolen in the last four years. It's hard to explain to your daughter when the bike she's had only a week turns up missing that there are a lot of pink and purple bikes so it can't be found and identified. Can't something be done to help us? QI teen-ager- ' g er I Al There is absolutely no truth to the rumor you have heard about Park College. We invited Park College to deliver certain continuing education programs on base and the Utah State Board of Regents has sanctioned Park's operation on Hill AFB. We are more than satisfied with the quality of programs offered by Park and the student services they provide. We also have plenty of satisfied students in the Weber State College programs. Good luck with your degree. Following your call, security police did an analysis of vandalism and theft in the housing areas. The results do not indicate that we have a widespread problem, nor do they show that a curfew is necessary at this time. Your call gives me the opportunity to caution all parents that they are responsible for their dependents and must control their actions. I solicit your help and the help of everyone living on base in notifying security police when you observe acts of vandalism or persons disturbing the peace in your neighborhood. Please call the security police desk at Ext. 73056. However, let me also say that I don't consider teenagers sitting and talking quietly in a yard or common area as a problem. I'd rather have them doing that than cruising looking for something to do because we hassjed them into going I want to address the second part of your call concerning identification of property. Operation ID is a program run by our security police to assist you with this. They will provide instructions and recommendations and lend you the equipment to distinctively mark your property. When items are marked, they are less likely to be stolen. Please contact Sgt. Tamara Westerman at Ext. 77872. . : She will be happy to help you. jn A4 : Cover more youth sports Times to Would it be for the proHilltop possible vide more coverage on youth sports activities? Ev ery week squadron activities are reported but nothing is published about the Morale, Welfare and Recreation and our kids, and I think they deserve some support. A close look at the reasons we've youth sports will help readers understand some of our problems. We rely very .heavily in sports news on the help of volunteers who are active in the sports areas be; ' ing covered. This is because the Hilltop Times staff is small and simply can't get out everywhere there's news, every time it's happening. This is particularly frustrating in most of our sports areas, since these nearly always occur at night or on weekends, and we simply can't cover all of them. Hence our reliance on volunteers. Here's how you can help us cover the" youth sports scene much better in the future: help the Hilltop Times identify a few enthusiastic parents who are serious about their children's sports accomplishments, and who will regularly feed us information about the activities. On our part, we'll help those volunteers understand what we need in a sports story, show them what is needed for newspaper style, and even feature their bylines when they do the lion s share of work on a story we run in the paper. yi Al short-change- d " Not happy with cable service with the service I have received am not 6-- 8 5 quirements. food on the weekends Getting shifts and since the We have been working dining hall is open only certain hours, we're not always able to eat there, and we don't have time to go off base to get food. Would it be possible to open the base restaurant for a couple of hours on the weekends? 12-ho- 1 happy the cable company that provides services to the base. I couldn't wait all day for them to come out to hook up our cable and they wouldn't schedule an appointment to accomplish it. Then when they came out and hooked up my neighbor's cable, they didn't bother doing mine. Why are they allowed to have a monopoly on base and why can't I go to another cable company for my ca- . I can appreciate the frustrations in scheduling times for service representatives of any type to make needed repairs in our hqmes. TCI Cablevision is currently the only such company available in this area; therefore, we have to deal with them. Our relationship with them is handled via a franchising agreement which allows them to bury cables on the base, sell their service to military family housing residents, and in exchange provide their service free of charge in several common use areas. The contract administrator in base contracting division attempts to ensure they are meeting their commitments; however, she can't personally handle each call. You must work directly with the company and continue to elevate your concerns until you hopefully get a resolution. Although not much satisfaction, this is what would happen if you were living in a civilian community and your service was inadequate. Sorry we can't do any more. Ai ' swing p.m., lot 1 is full and you can't find any slots, and now the military units are taking part of it for a closed lot. Previously we parked in lot 14 and now they've closed that exclusively for military. It's getting to the point where you are either going to have to change the shifts so you can get more parking or allow people to park in some of the inner lots "before 3:30 p.m. Can you do something to help us? . Thank you for your concern in this area. I recog-A- I nize the parking problem you are having in lot 14; however, this lot is not exclusively used by military personnel. There are approximately 450 stalls shared by employees of the 6514th Test Squadron, Ogden ALCMAK, 2849th ABGDE, 388th TFW, 2849th ABGOT and some contractors associated with the 6514th. At times it is necessary to use a portion of lot 1 when conducting military exercises, which causes the lot to become crowded. Such exercises are necessary for readiness and some inconveniences are to be expected during their . short duration. IX The Crosswinds, Bldg. 230, is open 24 hours a day except 2 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday; and 2 p.m. Sunday through 5:30 a.m. Monday. The restaurant is open on most holidays except as posted. The base restaurant is required to make a profit and through user studies, we cannot justify the extended weekend operating hours at this time. We will continue to monitor demand and will institute extended hours as' the need demands. yi Ai ble service? ; A 0 GI : 1 don't know wh is delivering the Hilltop Times in our housing art a, but every Saturday morning there are papers all over. Air Force regulations specifithat the maximum excusal for blood donations state cally will not exceed four hours, except in unusual cases (i.e., when an employee must travel a long distance or when unusual need for recuperation occurs). The time is to be used only for necessary travel to and from the donation site, time to donate blood and for recuperation following the blood donation. These regulatory guidelines are based on Department of Defense directives and apply to any agency within the DOD, including Defense Depot Ogden. We were told that scheduled leave would not affect overtime work. Now we have a new supervisor who says regardless of whether or not leave was scheduled, we can not work overtime if we take leave. It is poor scheduling practice, however, to allow an employee to take annual leave during periods of known heavy workload and then later work overtime to perform duties which could have been per- - ' formed by the employee had leave not been taken."
