Show AO Hilltop Times Oct 7. 1988 OC3 ?C23 . vendor displays, An artificial intelligence fair to display the latest fifth and sixth generation of computing technology is held at the NCO club Wednesday. Open to anyone interested in artificial intelligence, or AI, the fair features 21 company displays and seven formal AI briefings, according to Ron Davis, Ogden Air Logistics Center AI program manager. According to Mr. Davis, the fair, which lasts from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., promises to be unique within Air Force Logistics Command and Utah. Approximately 18 of the major AI vendors, as well as several local vendors, will participate. In one area of the fair, AI hardware, software and applications will be on display. The NCO club restaurant, adjacent to the ballroom where the fair is being held, will remain open during the fair and open to the public. Some of the fair's highlights include displays of AI workstations; a demonstration of mainframe and personal computer-baseOgden ALC AI applications; a natural language demonstration; a combination of expert systems with interactive video; and training on neural networks from two of the world's leading neural network vendors. " AI is the fifth and sixth generation of computing technology and it's having a revolutionary im state-of-the-a- i rt d on-thesp- ot event day-lon- g pact on the use of computers worldwide," Mr. Davis said. AI is already commonplace in most Fortune 500 companies. "The expert systems, one branch of the technology, is having tremendous productivity returns on hundreds of major applications throughout the world," he said. Other major areas of AI technology include intelligent robotics, voice recognition, natural language understanding and neural networks.
