Show o BUSINESS OUTLOOK FOR SECOND HALF YEAR GOOD Total business activity for the second half of 1957 is expected to measure slightly above 1956's in the intermountain area, a First Security Bank survey shows. That was the report of Dean T. Malan, manager of the First Security Bank at Bingham. "Our system-wide First Security Secur-ity study shows that our economy econ-omy continues on a high plateau" he said, "and there is no indication indica-tion that the over-all picture will change markedly." He added that the study indicates that optimism is developing for an upswing in automotive sales, housing construction con-struction and inventory buying. "However, tight money will temper tem-per any gains in these segments of our economy," the survey indicates. in-dicates. "Our studies at First Security show that capital expenditures in the Utah-Idaho area, as well as in the nation as a whole, continue con-tinue at new high levels," Mr. (Malan said. "Tight money should remain for some time until there is a definite leveling out or a slight downturn in the economy econ-omy is evident. Demands for long term funds continue considerably above the savings of both individuals indi-viduals and business." |
