Especially pleased are Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Murano of Copperton. Their daughter, Miss JoAnn Murano, Mur-ano, a senior at the On versity of Utah and outstanding student, was chosen for honor of the week- in last week's issue of the U of U Chronicle. Following is text of the article about her appearing in the university paper "I his week we are honoring JoAnn Murano, a truly outstanding ind ividual. She is not only an outstanding student, but has a warm, friendly personality person-ality and a willingness to serve. Four years ord, JoAnn came to Uteville from Bingham Hikh School. At this tinre, she was named recipient recipi-ent of the Kennecott scholarship, the granting of which is basrd on scholastic and leadership ability. Because of her student participation participa-tion and high average during her hiyh school years, she received honors at entrance to the University. Univer-sity. JoAnn has been active from the very beginning of her college career. Dur.ng her freshman year she plcdyed and obtained membership member-ship in Delta Delta Delta sorority. Plie was nn honor pledge and has since served as assistant treasurer, tr" -surer and house president for thin proup. the held a membership in the Spurs when she was a sophomore sopho-more and was a Cwean member dining her junior year. Also included inclu-ded in her many activities were chairmanship positions on the Square Dance committee and in AWS. The Program Council Student Stu-dent personnel, Greek Week, Campus Cam-pus Chest and Freshman Week are some of the committees on which she has served during the past three years. JoAnn's life-long interest has been in working with children of the younger age groups. This year she will graduate as an elementary education major and will. take up permanent residency in California where she plant to settle down and teach. Mrs. Helen Sullenger was hostess hos-tess to her afternoon birthday club at her home Thursday afternoon (yesterday). A very lovely 12:00 o'clock luncheon was served after which bridge was played. Prizet were won by Mrs. W.D S. Brown, Mro. Pete Smith and Mrs. Heber Nichols. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Murray and Mrs. Idella Watkins attended the monthly get-together of the Eagles 500 Club at Midvale Tuesday evening. even-ing. Wednesday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wldliam D. Nielsen were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Garahana and children, DeeAnn, Danny, and Julie of Kearns. Mrs. Harold W. Nielsen was hostess hos-tess to her bridge club at her home in Sandy Monday evening. Mrs. Bob Jimat was an invited guest. Prizes were won by Mrs. John O'Brien, O'-Brien, Mrs. John J. Creedon and Mrs. O. J. Graham. Lovely refreshments refresh-ments were served. Fire Auxiliary met Monday night for their regular weekly meeting with Mrs. Bill Hennings hostess for the evening. Prizes at tards were won by Mrs. Leonard Bell, Mrs. Boyd Anderson and Mrs. Wally Swenson. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess. Twelve mem bers were present. Next Monday night, Feb. 15, 7:00 p.m. will be a pot luck Valentine party and white elephant gifts will be exchanged. Luncheon guests Monday noon of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Huebner and family were Mrs. Huebner's brother and wife, Mr. and Mis. Lloyd Nerdin of West Jordan. Bingham Ward Mutual held a Valentine party at the ward house Tuesday evening. Dancing was enjoyed en-joyed and light refreshments were served. |
