Terry Walker 388th Tactical Fighter Wing For many of us, fond memories revolve around the Christmas season, either as children receiving that spe- cial gift or as parents watching a lit- tle face light up as a present is unwrapped. This year the volunteers at the Hill AP'R TrnHincr Pnsfr. wnnlfl Hlrp f.n sVinrp in some of those memories during their annual Christmas open house, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents and their children are invited to the Trading Post in Bldg. 394 at the corner of 8th and B streets to see Santa. Each child present will receive a gift. Free refreshments will also be provided. "Various groups and organizations, including the base exchange and commissary vendors, have contributed gifts to brighten the Christmas holidays here," said MSgt. James Litalian, 388th Tactical Fighter Wing Gas adviser to the Trading Post. "We have everything from toys to infant clothing and gift certificates to give away. "We all hope," he continued, "to make this the best Christmas party the Trading Post has ever hosted. We invite everyone to catch the Christmas spirit early by joining our celebration." The Trading Post is sponsored by the 388th TFW Advisory Council and provides household items and clothing free of charge to active duty military members and their families stationed at Hill. Volunteers are always needed to assist with the programs. Child care will be provided free of charge. However, before such measures are taken, the Air Force is trying to tighten leave procedures and educate members on the potential cost of "gaming" the leave program. The new leave policy is the first step in this drive, officials said. By law, military members accrue 2.5 days leave per month for each month of active duty. Leave is taken on a calendar-dabasis, which includes weekdays, weekends and holidays. According to officials, the program is not designed for members to take 30 duty days of leave (AFNS) per year. AFMPC officials said that because of such abuses, a variety of proposals were considered, in- - ii a a Texas: n 8th Street Bldg. 394 T: Air Force has eliminated the "window" which gave service members the leeway to start leave 7th Street m BX ; leave procedures 4 Commissary within three days before or after of their leave effective date.
