The visual quality of the site was described and considerations made for necessary utilities. The site analysis summary noted both positive and negative factors and program conflicts which might influence the end product. Each student took on a separate part of the plan. The end result was a report which covered topics from shelter belts to management populations. plans for The class prepared a model and determined the workability of the proposed master plan. Also considered was the minimum expenditures for site development and costs of long-termaintenance. All the architectural students participated in the site analysis, including considering adjacent land use, access to the site, the types of soil, the hydrology and the topography of the land, existing water and temperature over the year. Plant species were identified and a . list of bird species using similar habitat at the Ogden Nature Center was obtained. The project was developed through meetings between base environmental planning personnel and the architectural class. Goals evolving from the sessions included development of a park-lik- e space which would complement a museum complex. The plan provided for parking, restrooms, play space, a playground and a temporary visitor contact station. The plan incorporated places for solitude and reflection in keeping with a memorial theme.
