Show HILL TOP TIMES Friday, Jwm 28, 1985 Gallagher posts best time in autocross event V - Jim Gallagher, driving his Lotus Super 7, posted the fastest time overall 41.55 seconds in the Hill Sports Car Club's sixth autocross event of the season June 16. In the Stock Class, Cless Pack was quickest in his Corvette in a very good time of 47.23 seconds. Bill Breedlove in a 240Z narrowly won the Street Prepared Class with an elapsed time of 46.14 seconds while Randy Welch drove his Datsun to victory in the Prepared Class in 45.28 seconds. Yankees down ECaysville, Layt on in Babe Rufh aeiien the Hill Braves got by the Ogden Dent Doctors by Babe Ruth League Although they were outhit 12-- 7 the Hill Yankees slipped past the Kaysville A's 5 in an exciting defensive struggle June 17. The Yankees jumped out to an early lead only to see their lead slip away as a determined A's team tied the score 4 in the middle innings. The game became a defensive struggle until late in the game when Danny Chaffin of the Yankees tripled, driving in what proved to be the winning run as their lead was extended to In the final stanza, the A's cut the lead to one but with two outs and two runners on base, Yankee second baseman Sean McFalls caught a pop fly for the final out to seal the victory. The winning pitcher was Gary Sarrells. The Yankees traveled to Layton June 19 to take on the Lay ton Mets in a game which saw the visitors roll to an easy 22-- 4 victory. Led by Jim ScholFs home run the Yankees got off to an early 13-- 0 lead and midway through the contest extended their lead to 21-- To avoid being shut out, the Mets fought back as they scored four runs late in the contest as the Yankees added three more to end the scoring. Pitcher Sean McFalls of the Yankees was credited with the victory. T-B- all Home runs by Steve Washington, Kyle Pickeral, Karl Reese Jr. and Jason Caldwell powered the Hill (See "Action," page 40) Pitch, hit and run compet of ion set A pitch, hit and run competition for boys 6 years of age is scheduled for July 4, at 10 a.m. The 9-1- competition is being sponsored by the Youth Activities Center and will be held at the little league ball diamond. This activity is free to all participants. Age categories and breakdown will be as follows: 0 year olds; ' 2 year olds; -4 year olds and 6 year olds. Check-i- n time for this event is 9:30 a.m. since the competition is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. sharp. Contestants will be required to compete in all three categories. Scoring will be as follows: Pitching: Each contestant will be given three chances to throw a ball through a rectangular target 20 inches by 24 inches. Each successful attempt will be worth 50 points for a possible total of 150 points. Hitting: Each competitor will be allowed three 9-1- 11-1- 13-1- 15-1- swings at the ball fungo style. One point will be awarded for each foot the ball travels in the air with only the longest distance being recorded. Running: Participants will be timed running the major league distance of 90 feet from home plate to first base. A stopwatch will be used to record the times. Points will be awarded as follows: 4.4 seconds and under will receive 100 points. 4.5 to 4.9 seconds will receive 80 points. 5.0 to 5.4 seconds will receive 60 points. 5;5 to 5.9 seconds will receive 40 points. 6.0 seconds and over will receive 20 points. , Winners will be determined by their total accumulated score. Prizes will be awarded for first and sec. ond place in each age category. This will be a drop-i- n type activity and pferegis-tratio- n is required to compete. No late entries will be accepted. Traveling to Hyrum for an 8 p.m. contest June 18, the Falcons banged out a season high 19 hits and went on to a 20-- 6 romp over Hyrum. In the second game, Scott Burns of the Falcons and Greg Holman of Wendy's were locked in a pitcher's duel through six innings as the visitors held a slim 0 lead.
