In the Music Vocalist category, .Dennis L. Musil sang "I'm Easy" for the first place win, while Gerry Crippen's rendition of "I Would Die for You" gained him a second place spot. By Louanne Fronk Thornton Recreation Center When the curtain came down on this year's talent show Friday evening, comments from the audience ranged from "the best show I've seen yet" to "Gee, I didn't know there was talent like that on this base." After all the judges' tallies were in, highlight of the evening was naming the individual who had been judged "Best of Show." The honor went to Vic-- , toria I. Silva, who had been declared the winner earlier in the category of Female Music Vocalist, Self-Accompani- ed Self-Accompani- ed Not Self Accompanied. -- Victoria Silva and Daniel Bienvenu render "Friends In Love" for their first-plaranking in the Vocal Duet category. ce A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she held the audience captive with her rendition of "The Way He Makes Me Feel." V Other award winners named during the course of the show were: David "Pete" Petersen for his rendition of "God Bless The U.S.A." He was the winner in the category of Male Music Vocalist, Not Tied for second place in the category were W.T. Johnson, Reginald Adams, Gary Young and Kenneth Sawyer, was judged top winner in the Vocal Group category. In the Dance category, Robert Jones' "Break Dancing" was judged the top winner, while Theresa J. Chambers, dancing to "You Better Run" came in second place. by George Whetton The comedy routine of Andrew Holmes not only brought laughs from the audience, but earned him the first place spot in the Comedy category. He also kept the show moving as master of ceremonies and was awarded the top honor in that category. ri 'Judges for the show were Norm Maxfield, Gordon Steed and Jayne Cook. Mr. Steed has been judging talent shows for the past 12 years. He is a teacher of vocal music at Clearfield High School and a graduate of Weber State College where he earned a composite major in vocal and instrumental music. ,J Miijuem J Dennis L. He graduated from Brigham Young University, earning a master of theater arts degree. i :4 Ms. Cook is on the board of directors for the Chicago Opera Company and has spent her professional life performing in the theater and vocal arts. The duo of Patricia Ridley and Carl Hobbs' rendition of "Celebrate My Love" won them a second place honor in the category. An electrifying guitar solo, "This Guy Is From Mars" played by Darrin Ros was judged first place in the Instrumental Solo category. Kenneth Copelandj also on guitar, played "Warm Springs" for the second place honor. Once again, in the Instrumental Group category, the group Charisma won first place with their rendition of "Rain Forest Jungle Love." The group Maidenkaine's rendition of "Slide It In" was good for the second place win. Charisma is made up of Gary Young, Gerry Crippen, Randolph Taylor and Chuck Walsh. Maidenkaine is comprised of Darrin Ros, Corey Reichert, Stephen Boettger and Darryl Salazar. , Winners from the Hill AFB talent show will now compete in the forthcoming Air Force Logistics Command talent show which will be held here early next month. Winners of that competition will then go forward to compete in the Air Force World wide Talent Show also being held next month at Minot AFB, N.D. Ultimate goal of winners at all levels will be a spot in the Air Force traveling ta' lent show "Tops In Blue." |
