Van Buren, team chief, Ronald E. Eastman, Carl J. Fink, John T. McDonald and Neil D. Shelton, along with nine airmen from the 52nd Tactical Fighter Wing at the German base are preparing the $18 million simulator for operation. Prior to turning on the power early next month, the team is building an environmentally controlled room to store the trainer which has suspended floors, three computers, linkage, ; radar and electronic cables. "The simulator will feature enemy threat simulation with a variety of tactical situations and will provide training to the 52nd that is not normally available in Europe," said Lt. "Aircrews flying the simulator for continuation training will have the opportunity of practicing a mission in a cockpit nearly identical to the actual ft 7 ' I I J M aircraft," the colonel said. "The simulator will save money for actual flight operations and will also provide the instructor ready access to the student's cockpit for maximum training effectiveness," he added. The Wild Weasel is equipped with the latest electronic hardware to of find, destroy or force' shut-dow- n F-4- G radar-guide- d, anti-aircra- ft weapons. It does its job with greater accuracy than previous Wild Weasel aircraft, plut it has a larger payload capacity and can carry a greater variety of weapons, including precision-guide- d bomb units for missions.
