Show 1 Little League MILFORD IN By: Call: Jean Williams Hilda O'Leary eajoyed a visit from her son Freddy and wife Ginger from Ely, Nevada and a visit from her grand-daught- er, Linda. Linda is in the Air Force and is stationed in Texas. Cuma Goodwin enjoyed a visit from Ser nephew, dein Polton from Oregon. A lot of fishermen w ire spotted on Saturday for free fishing day. Bill Wagner drove Dora Sm'th-so- n and her brother, Frank to Beaver so Frank could catch the bus to return to his home in Salt Lake City. Frank will be back to visit Dora next month. Virginia Gustaveson attended graduation exercises for her Leslie at the University of Utah in Salt Lake. Leslie graduated in Political Science. Karen Gustaveson, Virginia's daughter brought Virginiaback grand-- daughter, home on Sunday. Daisy Rowley enjoyed a visit with tw j young Missionaries, Terry Norton and Jimmy from Mexico. Daisy also enjoyed a visit from Keil Davis and Mrs. Earl Clark from Miner sville. Lyle & Peggy Dalton enjoyed a visit from their daughter, Lyla from California. Lyla spent the weekend visiting with her parents. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Aagard spent a night in Delta visiting with their daughter, Janiele and husband Ron Myers and their family. Powell Tucker and his wife are here spending a few days with their parents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Tucker. Bert aii Merlin Merryweather and Grandson Daren were in Salt Lake on Friday, June 9th to attend the U of U graluation exercises where their daughter Zelda Emerson was a gradjate in Special Education. Zelda received a Utah Career Teaching Scholarship. In attendance to see her graduate were many family msmbers "and friends. Her son Blair aai trie Teresa Coon had a dinner at their home in the evening for the family to honor her. Minor Hilda Shields was in Lakewood, Colorado for her grand daughter, Any Tucker's graduation. The ceremony was at the Red Rock's Amphitheater at 7 pjn. on June 2. There were over 500 graduates. Amy's grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Tucker, from Omaha were there also. On June 3rd, Hilda attended a graduation at a football stadium for Tyson Davis. Saturday night, she enjoyed a pig roast at the Davis home. On June 4th, Scott and Shirleen Tucker hosted a brunch in Amy's honor, at the Oxford Hotel, listed in the National Register of Historical Places. This hotel open in 1891 in old down town Denver. The colored colored glass, old paint-ting- s, marble walls and floors are beautifuL They also went to Dillon where a large shopping area of factory outlet stores has recently opened. Hilda and other family members attended a special showing of Nomads (Masters of Eurasian Steppe) at the Denver Museum at Natural History. This exhibition was from USSR. The largest exhibition ever to travel from he Soviet Union (only 3 cities were selected in the UJS.) Hilda returned home on June 8th. There were probably a record amount of players hit by the pitchers in this week while they are learning control of the ball. The Cubs and Jets played on this cool day. Jeremj Schow started for the Cubs, while Sam Craw started for the Jets. The boys made a lot of hits for their first game. The jets brought Kent Sullivan In during the third inning to win the game for them at 17-- 6. The boys finished S innings, that Is really great for Minor League. June 7th the United Way team and the Jets came together with Sam Craw starting for the Jets, and Jesse McDennott starting for the United Way. This game only went three innings, but it was a close game all the way. All the kids played well, but Kent Sullivan was the winning pitcher coming in during the second inning to win the game 2. This game wsnt 5 innings and the United Way won 14-- 4. Reggie held them back for the first few innings, then Jesse McDermmott finished up the gams to be the winning pitchir. These young men haw worked very hard, and I've seen some -super pitching, along with some good back-u- p teamwork by fielders. Mathews said both direct a.id guaranteed loans are available. Under the guarantee program, FmHA guarantees a percentage of a loan made by a commercial or cooperative lender. The loan ceiling for a direct loan is $203,030. ft is $300,000 for a guaranteed loan. Loan funds may be used to put In wells and water supply systems for home use, Irrigation and livestock; to purchase pumps, sprinklers aad other equipment; to put in ponds, tanks, ditches and canals for irrigation; and other purposes, Matthews said. The Bears chalked up three runs in the sixth inning to win the game. The Bees were stopped by tte winning pitcher, Ricky Rose who had been put in the game during the third inning. The Bears wm On May 25th, the Cubs came up against the Jets. Russel Barnes started for the Jets, and Joel Durham started for the Cubs. Joel held the Jets back until the 4th inning when he had to be pulled due to pitching three innings the previous game this week. The Cubs tried their best, but just couldn't stop the Jets. The Jets went on to win the game 4. with met On May 25th, the Bears the Mets! The starting pitchers were Cory Gillins for the Mits, and Adam Davis for the Bears. The Mets scored 11 points in the first two innings, aid the Bears just couldn't quite make the comeback necessary to win the game. Mike Marshal came in the game in the 4th inning to be the winning pitcher of the game, for the Mets. On June 2nd, the Mets came upon the Jets, with Jeremy May-costarting for the Jets, and Cory Gillins pitching for the Mets. The Jets scored 5 runs in the top of the 6th, but it wasnt enough, even with Luke Payne's home run in the 3rd inning, to win the game. with Brad The Mets won 11-- 9, Eyre as the winning pitcher of the game. The Cubs aid the Bears were up against each other on June 3rd. Cory Curtis was the starting pitcher for the Bears, and Jeremy McDermmott started for the Cubs. All runs were made in the first three innings, then the coaches sent in their heavy pitchers and it didnt take long after that to finish the game. Ricky Rose was named the winning pitcher for the game, with the Bears winning This was one of the few Saturday games, and it was defin-ate- ly worth seeing. This was one of the most exciting games yet. The score was tied 2 in the sixth inning. The . on Cubs were up with Blair base, and Joel hit his home run. The Cutis left with the bases loaded on their third out. Now the Jets have to get three to win, and two for a tie. Clay M. hits a 2 B hit and is on base, then two outs follow with strike-out- s. Scott M. hits a IB hit to right field and Is on base. Josh H. makes it on while a run comes In. Russel Barnes hits a 2B hit and two runs come in to win the game! Jeremy Maycock was the winning pitcher, but you can't slight any of the players on either team. Great game guys! Jets won On June 6th, the Bears 4. met the Bees. Michael Barnes started for the Bees, and Adam Davis started for the Bears. The Bears got off to quite a rally earning 12 runs in the first Inning. The t)oys were really excited. Michael settled down in the 2nd Inning, to hold the Bears down to only one run that inning. In the 5th, the Bees had a rally of their own, but couldn't get one over on the winning pitcher of the game, Ricky Rose of the Bears. Bears won One of the really exciting times of the 0th inning was when Justin Finch hit a home run! I'm sorry Justin, I almost forgot. It is always such a thrill to see that ball go over the fence' June 7th brought us the Mets and Cubs, with Cory Gillins ck Cubs and Mike Thompson is in the top of th2 7ih. Greai game guys, thanks! Mets won 19-- 9. On June 8th, we find a meeting of the Bears and the Jets with Ban Bailey starting pitcher for the Bears, and Barry Barnes starting for the Jets. Barry went on to pitch all six innings. The Jets started with a 10 run lead in the first inning. It was quite a rally. Ricky Rose was brought in during the third inning, but the Bears couldnt make up the deficit. Barry Barnes was the winning pitcher for the Jets with a score 15-- 5. June 9th brings us the last game of the waek! This brought together, the Bees and Mets. The starting pitchers were Bryan Mayer for the, Mets, and Adrien Jones for the' Bees. This was one of those kind of games that you go away think ing that those kids are finally putting it all together! There was some good hitting and some really great fielding. The Bees caught four fly balls, but it wasnt enough to win the game. Cory Gillins was the winning pitcher for the Mets with a score 12-- 7. As you can see, if you're looking for someone with a ball player in the house, chances are yoj'll find them al lie LlU'e Lc zui Park! I would like to honor the catchers this week. They really work hard trying to get those balls even we couldnt catch. They help the pitchers look good, and can make the difference between agood team, and a great team! Keen up the fellas. During week two of these exciting games, we find the boys gearing up and starting to put their practice into play. May 30th found the Bees and Mets pairing up. The Mets started Brad Eyre as pitclier, and the Bees started with Michael Barnes. The game was close with hits and runs being made by both teams. Highlight was a homo run by Brad Eyre in the 4th inning. After much hard work, the Mets beat the Bees, 2. May 31st brings us the Bears and the Jets. The starting pitchers were Cody Curtis for the Bears, and Jeremy May-cofor the Jets. Both coaches trying out several pitchers, Barry Barnes came during the fourth inning to win the game for the Jets. 1. June 1st aid we Score: have the Bees and Cubs playing.
