Osborn, Valley J. 16 Reed and Kleda Gillins went to Santa Clara on Thursday. On Friday the 18th they attended the wedding of their daughter, Sherri Welch In the St. George Temple. They stayed at the home of their daughter, Elaine Welch and family. They returned home on Sunday. Norman and Sherrle Thompson and children, Bruce and Gaylynn went to St. George on Friday to attend the of Sherrle wedding Welch. Then they went on to Henderson, Nevada where they visited with Norms sister, Lucille and his mother, LaRue Harris and they brought LaRue back home toMiners-vill- e. She had been in Henderson taking, care of Lucille after she had been injured In an accident. The Union Pacific Old Timers Convention was held in Salt Lake City on September 13 through the 15th at the Marriott Hotel. Those attending from the Mllford Club and 33 were: Bob and Pat Auxiliary Davis, Gene and Pat Johnson, Charlie and Raraona Smith and Darrln and Robin Mc Knight. This was an excellent convention; the food was delicious, old friends got together and many new ones, too. Tours and games were arranged for those who could participate. Comments heard from out -- of -- staters were very favorable for Salt Lake City. The Mllford Club won second place In the Poster Award Contest. Lodge On May 9, 1987, members of Victory Rebekah Lodge 43 traveled to Delta, Utah for the Visitation of Berniese Bywater, President of the Rebekah Assembly of Utah, who was making her official visitation to Betah Lodge. Principal Wlllden explained the Mastery Math Program. It is an individualized program for the 7th and 8th graders and those 9th grade stduents who are not enrolled in the algebra program. Mr. Wlllden said it is a really good program that he feels will be very successful. The committee then discussed some activities during homecoming, Friday, October 2nd. Immediately following the parade all eyes will turn to the football field where the PAC is hosting a "Cow Dropping Contest." The field will be divided into equal spots all which will be sold for $5.00 each. A cow will be turned loose on the field. Whoever owns the spot where the cow relieves itself will win a cash prize. This is a new event to our area and should be a great deal of fun. Following the contest will be a tailgate party, with concessions and fun for everyone. Dinner will consist of a chili boat, delicious homemade chili served over covered with tortilla chips and cheese a drink and dessert. All at a very affordable price. All proceeds will go towards a new sound system In the gymnasium. The Parent --Advisory Committee (PAC) met at Mllford High School to discuss the upcoming school year. PAC President Betty Bacon reported on the outcome of the stu- dents request to wear bermuda shorts to school during the hot months. The student council did a random telephone survey of the Mllford area for high school students. The outcome was 211 In favor of allowing bermuda shorts and 29 opposed. PTA leader Sherri Yardley polled fund-raisi- for the elementary age children with everyone being in favor. The council and PAC members then attended a School Board Meeting and presented their request and the survey results. "Even if no change is made, our students learned a great deal about the democratic process," stated Principal Don Wlllden. The School Board voted in favor of a trial period for 2 the shorts. David White, Wayne W. Wiseman, James Mayer voted for. Heber Davis and Howard Bradshaw voted against. They can be up to 3 Inches above the knee. After the trial period which ends Sept. 30 the Board will conduct a District Wide Survey from the communities, staff and students.
