Elk are generally scattered over much of the mountain and are still difficult to locate, especially when a hunt is in progress. A total of 41 bulls were harvested on Beaver Mountain last year of which 55 were spike bulls and 45 were mature bulls. The other popular elk unit for local hunters is the Fishlak Unit Harvest totals were down last year, over the past two year, but 317 bulls were still taken. Fishlake is a popular area to hunt because of the number of elk present and due to its open, accessible terrain.
