Three city council positions were up for election. One of the meetings had an attendance of 14 Milford citizens. The other convention was attended by 9 people. Could this apathy possibly come from the same energetic bodies who have felt so free to criticize during the term of these council members? These meetings were a golden opportunity for change if that Is' what Is needed. Membership in the United Methodist Women's group is not limited to women of that particular denomination but Is open to all who are inin these activities and would wish to participate. There are no "dues". A participating member needs only to have a Christian heart, wanting to share in the fellowship of others and who has the interest of the welfare of others at heart. The meetings are held In the afternoon in the church fellowship hall on the second Monday of each month at p.m. A study topic of some kind is also held at the end of each meeting. For the past few months they have been studying the various Christian religions, noting their differences and their likenesses so that they are able to better understand one another. Mayor Lee shall send a letter to all Beaver City licensed contractors stating the bid opening time and including the specifications. A pre-bi- d conference shall be held with Rex Carter on Saturday, September 19, 1987 at 8:00 a.m. at the IDS Church corner on Main and 2nd North. The reason for the expedited time schedule is to allow construction to begin before inclement weather sets in. All voted in favor of the motion. Rowland Yardley met with the City Council to protest Beaver City's Resolution of the last City Council meeting against his proposed cattle corral. The first thing one noticed on entering the building was the delectable smell of frying donuts being cooked in the kitchen to be taken home or enoyed at the hall with hot coffee. Beautifully arranged was a large display of handmade articles for every room in the house, lovely baby quilts, booties, sweaters and clothing, an assortment of Christmas decorations, tree skirts, candles and plaques. Kitchen towels and many other articles all made Milfords many and donated by talented ladies. The food table held many things to tempt the appetite and ruin the diet, homemade cakes, cookies, candy, cinnamon rolls, jelly rolls, danish pastry, bread and caramel corn. Prom inently displayed was the beau -tiful pieced and hand quilted star quilt. Pieced and donated by Kate McDonald and quilted by a group of Senior ladles. The major thrust at the moment Is in the sorting, pricing and displaying of the rummage which has come in over the summer, getting ready for the annual Auction and Rum mage sale which is to be held on October 3rd. It is to be even bigger and better this year, which means a lot of willing hands and strong backs are needed. Work days are every Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday nights from 7:00 to pjn. A Christmas Bazaar is also In the beginning stages of development and will be held on Decmeber 5, 1987 in their Fellowship Hall. Featured again this year will be homemade candies, handmade gift items and decorations and Christmas breads and cookies suitable for freezing so that they can enhance everyone's Christmas celebration. Christmas Carol and her helper will be on hand to take the little one's Christmas Wish list to deliver to Santa, Mrs. Claus will have her kitchen open and there will be a snack bar to tempt the shopper's appetite. A children corner, featuring all new items, with nothing priced over $1.50, will be open for their shopping pleasure and any gift which they purchase for Mom, Dad, Sis or Brother will be , gift """ wrapped free."
