The new building will be built at Second and H Streets near the Ogden Air Logistics Center Air Freight Terminal, Bldg. 900. Both squadrons occupy buildings in the 300 area that have been in use since the mid 1940s. The building marks a milestone for both units. Squadron commanders Maj. Ronald C. Ray, 68th APS, and Capt. Boyd W. Stewart, 67th APS, were present while Maj. Gen. Leo Marquez, Ogden ALC commander, turned the first shovel of soil to commemorate the beginning of work on the new structure. Also present at the ceremony were Col. Joseph Battaglia, Hill AFB commander; SMSgt. Richard Gahan, AFRES Project Manager; MSgt. William DeBoer, Military Airlift Command Technical Advisor; TSgt. Kenneth N. Cochrane, AFRES Administrative Advisor; and various other officers and enlisted personnel representing both Aerial Port Squadrons. General Marquez said this was an important step to improve training for the Aerial Port Squadrons and would strengthen the Total Force Concept which is important to our overall Air Force Mission. The building will be constructed by reserve Prime Beef units on annual tour from the 508th Civil Engineering Squadron, Hill AFB, and the 445th CES from Norton AFB, Calif. The new facility would cost approx-iamatel- y $485,000 if contracted to a private firm. By using the Prime Beef resources the cost of the building will be approximately $150,000.
