Osteen Base fireman cited for professionalism David Castaneda, a firefighter in the Hill AFB Fire Department, was recognized for professionalism by the Minuteman Post 8868 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A "Firefighter Certificate of Appreciation" cited his alertness, personal courage and regard for life and property. This is an annual award from the VFW organization. The certificate, recognized his expertise in fire fighting, which on numerous occasions resulted in rapidly extinguishing flames, thus saving Vaxmdrnd thousands of dollars in Air Force equipment and structures. It also referred to his knowledge of proper firefighting equipment and knowledge of various chemicals which caused fires, which resulted in minimum exposure risk to personnel. Mr. Castaneda has been a firefighter here since 1979 and has always presented a positive, "can do" attitude. This characteristic has contributed to his rapid progression to driveroperator (engineer) and a positive image to his peers. His constant desire to improve himself is reflected in his enrollment in Fire Science Courses on his own time and at his own expense. The certificate was presented to Mr. Castaneda by Don Menges, post commander and William Allen, base fire chief. mm fEuirniui.'d?, - 451 North Main Layton 1 MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL! ,v...:.:::?:W llllftiltll 546-130- LADIES OVER 15 AVAILABLE FIOIV 48 EXAMPLE Sots Soots Belts Mon.-Fr- i. 3146 MONTH A.P.R. $2,000.00 down or trade-in- .
