Show Page 14 HILL TOP TIMES Lsibor- Dy By Neal D. Faux Safety Office The forthcoming Labor Day holiday has been celebrated in this country as an honor to the working person since 1882. Hope that you caught the "honor the working person" part of that statement. That doesn't mean we want to honor them at a nice, quiet funeral or by gathering in respectful silence around a hospital bed. Such actions just shouldn't be part of the holiday. Even being permanently crippled physically is probably better than being crippled emotionally by knowledge that you had destroyed members of your own or someone else's family. Quoting statistics or trying to point out the sickening aftermath of a needless, useless death or disability won't prevent many accidents. Only you can do that. Only you can take the time to insure your automobile or recreation vehicle is in top condition. Only you can make sure you get enough sleep the night before that long drive. Only you can take frequent rest breaks along the way to guarantee alertness. It's your temper that gets away, causing you to take rash chances. You are the one who drives with a heavy foot on the throttle pedal. Only you can resist the temptation of a few cool beers or a cocktail or two before driving. Only you can make the Labor Day weekend a safe and happy holiday. Do it! ! DRIVE CAREFULLY. . . mm 9'9.
