The Aerial Port Squadron was hosted by the 60th Aerial Port Squadron, a regular Air Force unit stationed at Travis. Duties of the reservists included the loading and unloading of various cargo aircraft such DC--8 and the 0, as the Other duties included the processing of mail and cargo bound for destinations around the world and the manning of the air terminal operations center, located in the air freight terminal. The program allows airmen, who will be less than 35 years old when commissioned and have an approved age waiver, to apply for early release from Air Force active duty to enter the ROTC program. New eligibility rules require airmen to have been at their duty stations for at least one year, to have completed the application requirements and to have been accepted by an Air Force ROTC detachment 120 days before start of classes. Generally, a person can enter the program at the beginning of any non-scholarsh- ip school term.
