In the extreme southwestern part of the state, the deer population is down, and biologists are predicting hunters will find fewer deer. Because of severe conditions last winter in the northeastern area of the state, biologists are finding fewer yearling bucks which will reduce hunting success. In central and northern Utah, hunters should find deer This year, 200,000 Utah deer hunters will enjoy some of the best deer hunting in the nation. However, the success rate is expected to be less than last year's, according to LaVar Ware, information officer for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
