Maintenance, were awarded $572.50 each for a combined suggestion that saved the Air Force $88,585. Their idea involved 'a repair procedure for modification of bomb breeches during overhaul which eliminated coded throw-a- ways and new purchase costs. It also resulted in an official technical order change. An award of $545 was given to Joseph P. Gabardi, a machine tool operator, also in the Directorate of Maintenance, for his idea. He suggested manufacturing a grinding fixture to enable proper grinding and time spent 1979 reworking 2 aircraft tip sleeves ground improperly due to inadequate fixtures.
