Mistakes can be made, yet with "the will to live," and controlling your "fears," your chances of surviving are greatly increased. Let me recommend the following kit of these tools that you can make up at minimum expense and keep on your person: MAN WANDERS FROM DESERT - WALKS 150 MILES These and numerous other life or death survival situations become a reality each and every day. Contrary to what you might think, each of the above examples with the exception of one, occurred in the local area. The lost hiker was found 10 miles each of Salt Lake City and had died from exposure. The two hunters became lost in fog and due to mechanical problems with their boats' engine were unable to return to their automobile. Confronted with freezing temperatures and fog, they survived. The hunter survived after walking over three miles in below freezing temperatures with wet clothing. The man who walked in from the Arizona desert had walked miles. The last eight were accomplished by crawling completely naked, and doctors found his blood to be so thick that the lacerations he suffered did not bleed until he had received a large amount of water into his system. 150 Why is it some individuals can survive to tell of their harrowing experience and others perish within sight of help? The answer is a strong desire or "the will to live." Many classic examples of survival situations make poor classroom examples of proper methods, but they do show that stubborn, strong will power can conquer many obstacles.
