She her husband and operate a gasthaus near the caserne in which the Americans were living. Because it was close, it became a favorite gathering spot for many of the deployed airmen. Sergeant Ryan got to know the Schnapp family well. When his wife flew to Germany to meet him, she stayed with the family as a guest. Now, the Ryans have an opportunity to repay their hosts' hospitality. Since Mrs. Schnapp has to leave Germany annually for a drier climate, she came to Utah to visit her new friends. To officially welcome Brunhilde to Utah, the Ryans organized a party which in Since her arrival, Mrs. Schnapp has been enjoying the warm, dry Utah weather and generally seeing the sights. The members of the 388th TFW received her openly and she has been invited to many social events. On Oct. 5 she attended a coffee for the 388th Maintenance Wives club and in their participated scheduled activities. "It's a novel experience for my family," said Sergeant Ryan. "While I was in Germany I got a taste of what it's like to live there. Now, we're able to show Brunhilde the American Life Style." "We're trying to show her around as much as possible by taking in some of the local attractions and letting her visit some of the maintenance shops in the wing." Mrs. Schnapp will remain in for another 23 days, returning to her home in Germany on Nov. 6.
