Since then, the council has come a long way in meeting the needs of wing personnel. Primary objective of the council is to promote and improve human relations, racial harmony and equal opportunity among and for all personnel in any way associated with the 388th TFW. Its success thus far is due to dedication of the council members, response of the wing as a whole and strong support of Col. Neil L. Eddins, wing commander, and his staff. Human relations council members were selected from squadrons and staff agencies for their sensitivity, rapport and ability to communicate. Each member was given a AFR 30-- "Human Relations Guidelines," a charter and a list of responsibilities as squadron-agenc- y represen tative. The council's activities are varied. Besides working on a basis with people throughout the wing, its members have given much time and effort to programs such as the Hispanic Heritage 2, one-to-o- ne Week. One of the council's newest programs is to issue 388th TFW Human Goals Awards to recognize an individual each quarter and fiscal year who best exemplifies the principles of equal opportunity and treatment and human relations, both on and off duty.
