IT (10 dynamic weapon systems. More than 10,000 students will attend from one to seven classes to prepare them for their tasks under this system. Training problems, people problems. These are daily fare for a group of individuals in the Civilian Training Section , Personnel Division. It is their job to increase human capital through various training and educational programs and assure that future Air Force goals are met through utilization of existing manpower resources. This group knows that trained personnel are the most d valuable but least visible asset of the Department of Defense, yet it is their continuing challenge to produce the best qualified personnel in the Air Force. To accomplish their dedicated tasks of reclaiming human resources and before they can stand up before a classroom, they must first analyze operational system requirements; define education requirements from task statements; develop behavioral (criterion) objectives which state what a student will be able to do as a result of instruction; develop criterion tests to indicate whether a student can achieve the objective; plan, develop and validate instruction; and finally, conduct and evaluate the training. They constantly strive to improve their training and the manner in which it is conducted, keeping in mind that their entire program is baed on teaching a student to be able to do exactly what hi job w ill require, or prepare him for other jobs within the Air Force complex. To keep pacewiththe times and assure that Hill AFB personnel are the best trained, and highest in the Air Force, the Civilian Training Section qualified conducts the following types of training: Weapon System Training. Weapon Systems are generally heralded as the "guardians of peace" or "dissuaders of war and aggression." Consequently, this is one of the most unique and intriguing areas of training and development within the entire Department of Defense. Because Ogden AMA has responsibility for some of the most ir, tricate. sophisticated and weapon systems in the entire U.S. arsenal, this program is one of the most popular. However, the specialists assigned to conduct this training have most fascinating and frustrating careers. (USAF photo) This is the first accredited undergraduate degree program in the logistics field in the UnitedStates.lt is the result of joint efforts by many individuals from Hill AFB and Weber State College and has been accepted by the College Academic Council and the Utah State Board for Higher Education. Purpose of this program is to train potential managers across a broad spectrum in the field of logistics, which includes data automation, distribution, quality assurance, procurement, production, logistics management and provide a source for college recruiting of personnel with specialized training in logistics. The program is unique because it offers the student courses in the major, then allows him to complete the traditional general education through independent guided study or project approach methods. Of the 530 employees presently in the program, approximately 15 per cent are women. Executive Development Program. Hill AFB has 315 employees, qs 13 and above, who participate in this program where a wide variety of courses are utilized to keep top level executives trained and updated in management concepts and technical skills. AFLC Management Intern Program. This curricula is designed to train managers for use throughout the Air Force Logistics Command to replace those who will be lost by attrition. Interns hired under the program arc earmarked for permanent assignment to specific directorates within the command such as Distribution, Materiel Management, Comptroller, Procurement, or Plans and Programs, and assigned to various Air Materiel Areas for two years training, after which they are permanently assigned in a management position. At the present time there are 8 such interns in the program and another 14 who have completed it and assigned to positions. permanent Advanced logistics System Training. This is one of the most extensive training efforts ever undertaken within the Air Force logistics Command and will get underway during 1974. As each weapon is developed, it is transitioned to one of Air Force Logistics Command's Air Materiel Areas for maintenance and engineering support. Based on workload predictions, trained personnel requirements are projected and and training inputs consolidated, correlated, validated submitted to Air Training Command who negotiates either with sole or multiple contractor sources and obtains the training. When this is finally accomplished, the appropriate Weapon System Training Specialist finally sees the end of his efforts when the classes are conducted. Air Force Correspondence. This program is designed to acquaint all secretarial and clerical type employees with the format of Air Force correspondence. It assures familiarity with regulations and assures continuity of correspondence style and format Air Force wide. Secretarial and Professional Women Seminars. These two courses have been very successful and well received at Hill AFB. The programs feature outstanding representatives in the business and educational fields who endeavor to help participants achieve their potential, as well as build positive personal attitudes, motives and work habits essential to both individual and organizational success. Management Course for Air Force Supervisors, Part I. The Air Force ensures effective management of its resources by developing skilled supervisors, plus competent and flexible work forces at all echelons. of supervisory skills is a continuing Development is requirement and emphasized in all Air Force organizations, at all levels of command, and carried out through this course. The program is designed to provide supervisors an opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills in the latest managerial concepts, approaches, practices and techniques for effectiveness on the job. It enables them to prepare for and assume greater responsibilities; develops qualities of leadership which will result in maximum productivity by integrating Air Force objectives with individual aspirations for growth and development; and provides information needed in the supervision of the civilian work force as well as increasing competency and performance of supervisors by utilizing fiscal, material and human resources. All first level, full time supervisors, including officers through the grade of Captain. Warrant Officers.
