Temperatures during the month begin to modify with the mean daily max temperature 38 degrees, up five degrees from January. The mean min is 24, up four degrees. A low of 6 below zero and a high of 65 set in 1958 and 1972 are the extreme temperatures. Precipitation and snow fall during February are less than any of the winter months. There are on an average eight days with measurable precipitation. The mean average in inches is 1.6, the max 4.65 set in 1969 and the min .37 set in 1972. Total snowfall is approximately half that of J anuary. The average is 9.8 inches with 17 days of measurable snow depth. Measurable snowfall occurs on approximately six days of the month. On only four out of the last 18 years has the wind gusted over 40 knots. The highest peak gust recorded in February occurred from the east at 74 knots back in 1971.
