And besides whose business is it anyway, what I think or do about drug's? These are some of the questions concerning the use and misuse of drugs being asked by the citizens of our nation and of the free world. Don't be misled, however, the communist world is also being plagued by an extensive misuse of drugs. The question of the sudden interest in the misuse of drugs is easy to answer. In the past several years there has been an increase in the misuse or abuse of beneficial drugs as well as dangerous drugs. The dangerous drugs, of primary interest here, can lead to psychological dependence; moreover, certain drugs, such as can the hallucinogens LSD, STP, and marijuana damage your mind, and have no known medical benefit court-marti- al Not 'Buckling Up' May Cost Money Court decisions show that wearing seat belts can as well as prevent injuries. possibly save you money Courts in several states have ruled that a person's failure to have seat belts installed and in use at .the time of an accident shows contributory negligence. The reasoning behind these decisions is that if there is sufficient evidence to show a causative connection between injuries sustained by an individual and his failure to use seat belts, the court can present an issue of proximate cause to the jury. Proximate cause of an injury is defined as an act or omission which immediately causes or fails to prevent injury. Thus,- a person seeking to collect damages for injuries arising out of an automobile accident could be barred from recovery if the facts showed that he did not have at the seat belts installed or if installed, not in use time of the accident. This means that if it can be shown to a jury's satisfaction that use of seat belts would have prevented the injuries sustained, recovery may be barred on the theory that the complaining parties contributed to their own injuries by failing to use seat belts. Although some state courts differ with this opinion, there is a definite trend of the law that failure to use seat belts could bar recovery for injuries. If you are not worried enough about your neck to "buckle up", perhaps knowing that a failure to do so also could be costly monetarily will be persuasive. - r Coming J 1 f4 1. anv-- S put-- it - ed Marijuana's active ingredient, tetrahydrocannabini or "THC", is potentially very dangerous, and while a given dosage may not have apparent ill effects on another person, that fact is no protection for you. The use of marijuana is particularly hazardous. While under its influence, concepts of time and space can be radically distorted, and response to an emergency becomes unpredictable. A "pot" at the wheel of an automobile makes it a deadly dangerous weapon to others and a booby trap to himself. Another important reason for not using "pot" stems from its being against Federal law to use or possess. The penalties can be as much as 10 years in the penitentiary and a $20,000 fine for a first offense. Its sale, use, or possession is likewise a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, punishable by with a dishonorable discharge and up to five years in prison as the end results. Only the individual can decide if he desires to get caught in the drug trap, so take time out to think is a few minutes of false pleasure worth a lifetime of sorrow? (AFPS). To get a glimpse of why the fuss about drugs, just take a brief look at the effects that one of the hallucinogenic drugs alone might have on the human body and Marijuana, known also as "pot" or "grass", is the most frequently abused of the hallucinogenic drugs. Very little is known concerning its effects, but in its mildest forms it does not appear to be physically dangerous. Nevertheless, you can't be certain that it is totally safe, for in its stronger forms, marijuana can cause psychotic reactions in almost everyone. Mikesell "The richest hill on earth" is a title frequently given to the Silver Bow Mountain near Butte, Mont. The mountain is Ion?,; low, and unpretentious with little about it to stir the imagination.' Yet it is claimed that more wealth has been taken out of that hill in the form of copper ore than from any other hill on earth, f The story of this hill brings to mind another hill a great distance from Butte, it is . . . "a green hill far away, outside a j city wall." The hill outside the city of Jerusalem, called Calvary, is the hill that really deserves the title. From it has come the greatest wealth that has ever been poured into human life and history.; What is it that makes Calvary truly "the richest hill on earth?". More than anything else it reveals the height, depth, and I breadth of God's infinite love for all men. Leslie Weatherhead presents a dramatic and moving vision of the meaning of Calvary as he recalls his ocean voyage and relates his impression of the volcanic island of Stromboli, off; the coast of Italy. He recalls that it was in a state of violent eruiK tion with flames leaping thousands of feet into the air. It took; the ship three hours to pass at night and he relates that he conWj see the awesome flames that revealed the eternal fires m tne violent depths of the earth. In relation to this he recalled another three hours. , that: n Jesus Christ hung upon a cross on Calvary. In doing this ' revealed the depths and eternal fire of God's Love. it, upon because Calvary is the richest hill on earth for through Jesus Christ, demonstrated His loving concernhas and me.
