Show Last week I got so busy poking my newsy nose into other peoples newsy Items that I forgot some of my own news. Our granddaughter, Veda L ovell of Eureka came down Thursday evening and went to the fair with us. She left early Saturday Sat-urday morning to go on the bus back to her home. It's so seldom that she gets down here that it really is news when she does. Recently Ed and Fontella Skeem drove to Tooele and Mrs. Kathleen Farris took them to Roy where they visited their other daughter, Hazel Babbitt and family. It was a bit early for Hazel's birthday but being as how Fontella is to be busy cooking for the school children and couldn't get away on that special day they celebrated early. That makes it nice she can have a pre-birthday pre-birthday as well as a birthday celebration. The group returned to Tooele Saturday evening and Sunday Sun-day they had a lovely dinner with the Farris family. Julie Skeem and her two children had dinner with them. Then Ed and Fontella returned re-turned home Sunday evening. Last weekend Leona Anderson and son, Robert, attended the wedding wed-ding of a nephew and cousin, Norman Nor-man Manz in New Port Beach, Calif. They returned home Monday bring ing Juanita Boone and her son, Marvin with them. They will visit Juanita's mother, Jensine Anderson and her brothers and sisters for awhile. Last Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Hawley and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cropper went to Salt Lake for doctor's doc-tor's appointments. They returned home Wednesday. Wednesday of last week was a day, MarGenne Rowley, LeVene Gillen, Norma Skeem and Ethel Stanworth of Oasis, Bertrice Erick-son Erick-son of Deseret and Verda Little, Amelia Cole, Helen Warner, LaNore Gardner, Beryl Sorenson and Myrtis Bennion of Delta and Eva Dutson of Leamington went to Farmington to judge the Davis County Fair. Then the Senior Citizens took a lovely sight seeing bus ride. Ella Christensen and Isabelle Wads-worth Wads-worth and yours truly, LaVeda Bishop of Oasis and some 45 other hale and hearty citizens of East and West Millard County boarded the Delta Bus driven by Owner Eric Gillen and his wife, Margaret as our charming hostess. We went to Cedar City and up Cedar Canyon to "Cedar Breaks" and on to Bryce Canyan where we ate picnic lunch - and saw the beautiful canyon. Such breath taking grandeur. We had a 7 JKj!3fi333 EJft LaVeda Bishop pleasant trip thru Clear Creek Canyon Can-yon on our way home. The scenery there was beautiful too. All in all it was a lovely trip. We received some fringe benefits aso. Our lovely love-ly hostess Margaret Gillen told us about their trip to the Palmyra Pageant. She had the special privilege privi-lege of taking part in the pageant so her travelogue was very much enjoyed by the group. We are looking forward to the trip to Salt Lake to attend the Fair Sept. 16. Mrs. Irene Stanworth and Julie, Gwen Anderson and her children and Miss Sonya Ashby went to Salt Lake last Wednesday to see Elder Gary off on the plane Thursday Thurs-day morning for Hawaii. Mrs. Ethel (Alf) Stanworth accompanied ac-companied the group as far as American Fork where she stayed to visit her daughter, Eva Abbott and family. They all returned home Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Celso Lobo of Provo spent the weekend visiting their grandfather Leslie Webb and the Loren Rowley family. It was nice to see them to Sunday School. Mr. Calvin Skeem and his children, chil-dren, Holly, Cody and Guy of up north were to Sunday School also. Ernest and Phyllis Anderson took Nora and Christine and Raymond Anderson and Clyde Gillen to Salt Lake Saturday to see the circus. And do you know? I went to the circus too. Myrle Bennett of Deseret accompanied me to Salt Lake where we kept her doctor appointment appoint-ment Saturday morning. Then when she got a clean bill of health we really did celebrate.; We went to the big circus and enjoyed it as much as if we'd been teenagers. We visited with Mrs. Lydia Ipson and her four little girls, then we attended the wedding of one of my nephews, Mark A. Hutchings. Well all in all we had a lovely day and returned home that evening, two tired but happy ladies. Steven Willoughby spent last weekend up north visiting his fiancee, Miss Louise Millman. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wilcox and son, Robbie of Calif, visited rela- latives in Oasis Friday. They stayed stay-ed over night : with her cousins, Duane and Ila Stanworth and left Saturday morning. Mrs. Wilcox is Sally, daughter of Maneul Stan worth. Lucille Farr of Phoenix, Ariz, is visiting her parents, Val and Erma Styler. Saturday morning Lucille and her parents went to Bountiful to visit a few days with Arlyn and Mary Styler and their family. wtsm "EOiCO? Colleen Dastrup of Filmore came Saturday and stayed over with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Deon Gillen Sunday morning she took her parents and sister to Salt Lake where they will visit Mrs. Gillen's brother, Max who is in the hospital and they plan to see the circus before be-fore returning home. Vernessa Skeem received a phone call from her sister, Casole Johnson John-son of Salt Lake. She Is leaving by plane for Seattle, Wash. Monday morning. Her grandson is getting married and she will attend the wedding and will visit her son, Ray Johnson and his wife and family. Mr. and Mrs. George Rawson visited at the home of their children, chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stanworth Stan-worth over the weekend. Other guests of the Stanworths were Richard Rich-ard Maxwell and his sons, Richard and Shane of Salt Lake. Richard is Ila's brother. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stanworth and son, Rex attended the Farm Bureau Banquet in Filmore ast Thursday. Rex escorted Missl Andrea An-drea Robins, Miss Millard County, of Scipio. Rex was on the program. Miss Janice Van Gandy of Alameda, Ala-meda, Calif, and Miss Laurie Dob-son Dob-son of Olympia, Wash, and Miss Aleca Giles of Nauvoo, HI., visited over the weekend at the home of their aunt, Celia Christensen. They went to Fillmore Monday to visit other relatives. Ed and Celia Christensen and the three nieces went to Fillmore Monday to attend the funeral services ser-vices for Mr. Lindon Robison. Our sympathy and love goes to the family of Rachel Cahoon. She will be missed but she has suffered a long time so she vas happy to be called home. Ewa Cahoon's twin brother, Evan Hanson and his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Ragner of Salt Lake visited with her Sunday. A good crowd attended and had a good time. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nielson last week were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Nielson and family, Donna Haycock and Steven, Kent Nielson and boys of Salt Lake ' Mr. and Mrs. Leon Nielson and children of Sandy spent last week at the home of their mother, Mrs. Lucille Nielson. Steve. Aagard of Tooele spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Nielson. Shiela Nielson visited in Kearns last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Overson. We are all saddened to hear of the death of Ruby Nielson Stewart Esklund of Scipio and our sympathy sym-pathy goes to her family. Those going to her funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gunn and Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Gunn of Los Angeles, Calif. Visiting at the Bp Stephenson -scenic DESERET Howard Jensen and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Axel Jensen weer in Salt Lake Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Mace spent the weekend at Las Vegas visiting Doyle's brothers, Blaine and Mar-tell Mar-tell and families. They were accompanied ac-companied by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carson and granddaughter of San Francisco, Calif. We send Get Well wishes to Dixon Dix-on Eliason whe is recovering from surgery at the LDS Hospital. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Eliason Elia-son have been In Sat Lake during the week. More work has been done on the Cemetery this week. New lawn has been planted on the west part of the cemetery. At a date in the near future more grass will be planted. This is a part of the "fixing up" program that was started in the spring. Darwin and Vickie Dewsnup of Salt Lake spent Saturday and Sunday Sun-day with Darwin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Dewsnup. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Davis and son and daughter of Calif, visited with his brother, Verdon Davis and family. Visiting at the home of Garold and Elaine Moody are Elaine's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Schmutz of St. George. Mr. Arthur Pulfer and son, Adrian of Australia visited over the weekend week-end at the home of Dee and Eunice Black. Mr. and Mrs. Fawn Western and son, Bruce went to Salt Lake Saturday Sat-urday and while there they visited with Luella's brother, Max Smith of Grace, Idaho who is at the University Uni-versity Hospital seriously ill. home were his sister, Josephine and husband, Jack of Salt Lake. Margie Greathouse, Eunice Nielson, Niel-son, Irene Best, Margaret Bradfield, Mr. and Mrs. Bud McCann attended Ruby Eskland's funeral last week. We have had all our family home this past week, Don, Lois and children chil-dren of Bountiful, Rayma and Rus sell Hughes and LaWrene of Salt Lake and Jay, Rose, Paul and Bryce of Grantsville, (Thayne Bradfield spent; last week at diabetic camp in the Uintahs) also at our house last week were Mr. and Mrs. John R. Nelson and children, Don Wayne, Kenny, Eeverly and Janet, Mrs. Amanda Nelson of Grantsville and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller of Delta and Margie Durphy of Grantsville, Margaret Mar-garet Bradfield of Leamington. Don Wayne and LaWrene were the speakers in Sacrament meeting and Margie Duphy sang a solo accompanied accom-panied by Mina Overson. I spent from Sunday to Wednesday Wednes-day in Salt Lake visiting children. Mr. and Mrs. Clean Nielson and Alpha Nielson attended the Wm. Harden Ashby Reunion Saturday at the Wilkinson Center on the BYU Campus in Provo. Orran Ashby of Delta was elected president of the Ashby Family reunion committee. Mr. and Mrs. William Overson spent the weekend in White Hall, Mont, with son, Leland and family. They also enjoyed the scenery at Bear Lake, Yellowstone and Tetons. Visiting with Hazel Sheriff this past week was her daughter, Shirley Shir-ley Roberts and daughter, Dana of Stockton. Judy and Butch Mills spent the weekend at the home of parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nielson. Sadie Painter and sons, Gene and Steve of Provo, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bradfield Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Aralda Jones and children spent the weekend in Salt Lake and came home with a new car. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Overson and Clara Bradfield went to Salt Lake Tuesday to keep a dr. appointment Mrs. Eva Dutson went with a group of ladies from the area to be a judge at the Davis County Fair on the 19th. Paul Johnson, son of Elaine Johnson John-son returned from his mission and left immediately for Ricks College. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Foy of Pan-guitch Pan-guitch came and got their son, Howard who has been working for Bishop Rich Finlinson this summer. Darrel Parsons of Blanding and his fiancee, Kathy Bateman of Spanish Fork visited with his grand mother, Margaret Bradfield and his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Lau-rence Bradfield Saturday. Darrel and Kathy will be married Friday in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bishop and Mrs. Rich Finlinson have their little foster son, Ambrose Am-brose back with them. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Nielson visited in Salmon, Idaho with Ruth's sister Jewel and husband, Jack Pochacko. Mr. and Mrs. Bud McCann went to Salt Lake and visited with Mr. j and Mrs. Austin Willden. Austin and Fern had a lovely birthday i dinner and cake for Margaret and also took them to the Salt Palace to the circus. j Allen Overson returned home j from Conn, where he has been : working this summer. J Steven Nielson, son of Mr. and ; Mrs. Clinton Nielson left last week for the army. He is stationed in 1 i Fort Lewis, Wash.. His wife, Becky ARPRILLA SCOW Our community was deeply saddened sad-dened Sunday evening the the passing pas-sing away of Mrs. Rachel Cahoon, wife of Randall Cahoon. We extend sympathy to the Cahoon and Cropper Crop-per family members. Mrs. Payne of Canada Is visiting at the home of her daughter and family, Fayetta and Ray Western. Mrs. Shirlene Myers and children of Calif, are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Western and children and Mrs. Payne went on a trip to Grand Canyon and Ariz, where they met their foster son, Eugene and brought him to Deseret so he could enroll in school. A nice time was enjoyed on the trip. Program at Sacrament meeting Sunday evening was put on by High Councilman Glen Swalberg. Talks were given by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Swalberg and Glen and a vocal solo by Ray West rn. A talk also by Arthur Pulfer of Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Taylor and son, Tim of Pocatello, Ida. spent Satrday and Sunday with Floral's moved to Boise, Idaho to be with her family. Mrs. Daliah Dutson of Fillmore and her mother, Margaret Simidini of Dove Creek, Colo, visited at the home of Mr .and Mrs. Rulon Dut son last week. Louise Lovell went to Scipio Monday Mon-day to see her sister. Jane Williams of Fillmore is visiting with Margaret Bradfield. Her son, Don Williams of Thompson Thomp-son Falls, Mont, and his son, Kim of Provo visited Jane Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Bud McCann and Loraine Stephenson went to Fillmore Fill-more Monday to. the funeral services ser-vices of Mr. Lindon Robison. Mr. Odvin Rosquist and Delia Crowther of Fountain Green came Sunday to help celebrate Camile Nielson's birthday. School has started and this is the first timei n 26 years that I haven't got some one off to school. Does that mean Im growing older? It sorta hurts to see the bus stop out here. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Journy of Seattle visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Memmott last week. Inez's article, "Down Yawnder" certainly expressed my feelings, I've read and re-read it so many times. I know just how she feels, only I believe it hits a little harder when it's your last one that is getting married, but then we wouldn't want it any other way. j Fall! s in the air. Stanley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hales. School bells began to ring Tes-day Tes-day morning for the elementary, jr. high and high school students to begin another school year. It makes us wonder where the summer sum-mer went so fast. Mrs. Myrle Bennett has returned home from her tour which included the Hill Cumorah Pageant and other places of historical events. His wife, Elayne Judd and children are staying stay-ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Moody. Dale Jensen and six fellow class mates spent most of the past week at Lake Mead scuba diving. All reported an excellent time. They were surprised at the trash in the bottom of the lake, that otherwise could be most beautiful. Also they were amazed at the exceptionally cold temperature at 80 feet below the surface. Layne Eliason went to Salt Lake Monday to visit with his cousin, Dixon Eliason at the LDS Hospital.
