Show Millard County Chronicle Thursday, June 3, 196S riibT WARD AREA NEWS BRIEFS LEONA WORKS Mrs. Fera Little and grandiaujh-tiT, grandiaujh-tiT, Jody Lynn left Delta on May 13 to fly to Hiverside to meet Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Little who had been on a vacation. Mr. and Mis. Little f.ew to Detroit, Mich, where they spent a week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Don (Rayda) Warren and family. They went on to the World's Fair where they spent three days; from there, by jet, they went to Los Angeles. After visiting with Mr. and Mis. Sherman Little and family they flew home and Mrs. Fera Little came on to Delta Sunday. Sun-day. Mrs. Warren Jensen and daughter Regina were in Provo May 19 to attend a BYU production, "The Miracle Workei." Regina's cousin Jan Weaver played the part of Helen Keller. They returned home the next day. Mrs. Fontella Bishop went to Salt Lake where she met her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sampson and they went to Pocatello, Idaho with Merlin and Charles Sampson to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Samp son. Fontella also visited with Mrs. Kate Edwards Smith. Mrs. Smith had just recently lost her husband, Allen Smith. Mrs. Fontella Bishop and Mrs. Bert Tucker were in Salt Lake a week ago to go thru the temple with Mrs. Tucker's aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Roberts and son from the Philippines are vaca tioning in the States for a month. They arrived in Delta last Wednes-. day night to spend a few days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roberts and sister Mr. and Mrs. Quin Shepherd and family and brother, bro-ther, Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Roberts t and family. They left to visit other members, of their families but will be back to Delta around the 15th of June when they expect to see and visit with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Roberts of Washington. Melvin has been In Japan working for some time and just recently returned home. The Roberts are to be back to the Philippines by the 1st of July. Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Erickson and family of Cedar City spent Thursday Thurs-day afternoon and night in Delta and Sutherland visiting friends. Margaret and Janet came to get their yearbook and spent the afternoon after-noon at school signing and getting their books signed. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ashton and son Todd spent part of the long weekend week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Brog Hopkins Hop-kins and family. Shannon Iverson was here for the weekend and Mrs Hopkins, , Debbie and Jacquie left for Salt Lake Monday afternoon to take Shannon back and visit with Sharon Hopkins. Mrs. Carrie Black returned home over a week ago from Salt Lake where she went to be with her sister sis-ter who had just lost her husband. Rites were held in Provo Thursday, Thurs-day, May 27th for Angus Maughn who died Monday at his home in Orem. Mr. Maughn was superinten dent of schools in Mil.ard Countj when the new elementary school was built. ....Mr. and Mrs. Ray Western, Donald, Don-ald, Berniece and Gertrude spent Monday in Salt Lake City. Iir&. Seth Jackson, LaMont, Jessie Jes-sie and I were in Mantl, Sterling and Holden Sunday to decorate graves. At Manti we met Mr. and Mrs. Jan McKee and family from Bountiful, Mrs. Grant Stevens and granddaughter Stephanie of Hold-en, Hold-en, Mr. and Mrs. De,bert Crapo and two grandsons Darin and Joe and Miss Shauna Crapo and her girl friend from Provo. It was really a nice day with no wind or rain. When we got home we went to the Delta Cemetery and it really looked good to see so much grass and so many flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bishop of Salt Lake were visiting in Delta and Hinckley Sunday. VeAnn Draper spent the weekend in Delta with Mr. and Mrs. Clark Draper and family. Last weekend Mrs. Draper's sister Irene from Logan Lo-gan and VeAnn from Salt Lake were down to attend funeral services ser-vices for Earl Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Swensen, Earl J and Ruth Ann of Salt Lake visited visit-ed with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hardy Monday. They had been to Hinckley Hinck-ley with Mr. and Mrs. Randle Swen sen. Visitors at the home of Mrs. Enid Bunker and Pauline and Bobbie for the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Bunke and son of Denver, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Rulon (Shortie) Davis of Idaho, Mrs. Neil Crosland of Levan, Mrs. Jim Stephenson of Nephi and Mr. Lee Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada. Craig Hardy was home for the weekend with the Floyd Hardys. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Hardy and family of Ogden stopped in Delta at the Floyd Hardys Sunday on their way to Milford. Larry and Velma Kay Odecm were home over the weekend with their father, Mr. V. S. Odean. Velma Vel-ma Kay will graduate June 5 from Utah State University as a teacher of elementary education. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Stoddard of Bakersfield, Calif, are spending their vacation with their mother, Mrs. Delia Lisonbee and visiting with Mr. and Mrs. David Jacobs. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Jensen and family fa-mily of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Faris and family of Spanish Fork spent the weekend with Mrs. Ruth Jensen and Elbert and Dan. Warren Jensen returned home after a ten day trip to Las Vegas, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, to Nashville, Tenn., to North Carolina, back to Florida, Georgia, then Denver Den-ver and Home. That is a lot of territory to cover in ten days. Mr. and Mrs. Theron Eggleston and daughter Elaine of Salt Lake spent Monday in Delta visiting with members of the Jeffery family. fam-ily. Weekend visitors at the horn of Mr. and Mrs. Newell Iverson were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Dutson and family of Salt Lake. They came Friday for Nadine's graduation. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Iverson and Nadine and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wood went to Beaver to take Mrs. Hattie Good win home. Most of the Goodwin family were at Beaver for Decora tion Day Monday. The Iversorus and woods came home Monday evening. even-ing. Here to attend the graduation exercises and visit at the Cloy Bro-derick Bro-derick home were Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Broderlck and son Allen Ladd of Roy, Mr. Ronald Broderick and three children of Brigham City, Mrs. Arvid Newman of Dugway, Mrs. James Marshall of Milwaukee and son Jimmy and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Broderick of Orem. Mrs. Virgie Broderick of Eureka came Thursday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Cloy Broderick and also her brothers. She was here for Den nis's graduation. She went home Friday night. Mrs. LeRoy Gourley and Mrs, vir gie Broderick of Eureka spent Sun day in Delta decorating their graves here. Mr. Cloy Broderick spent all last week in Emery rounding up their cattle and getting them back on the summer range. Mrs. Lilac Larson and daughters Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gansauge and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Oak City News Mrs. Mae H. Shipley Our Memorial Day Services were held at the cemetery Monday by the American Legion. Mr. LeRoy Walker gave the address and Mrs. Eldonna Anderson played an ac-cordian ac-cordian solo. Friends, relatives and neighbors spent the day cleaning and putting many beautiful flowers on all the graves. Ensign Jerald Peterson visited at home Monday. He has been in the Far East the past seven months. He has a few days leave, then will report back to Long Beach, Calif. We surely are gad to have Jerald back home for a few days. His father fa-ther and mother visited and some of his brothers and sisters were here with him. Mrs. Esther Christensen visited here a few days. Her daughter, Laura, also, sons Myron and An-toine An-toine and families were here over the long weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Flnlinson and all their children and families met at Oak City and then took an excursion ex-cursion to Lehman Caves last Saturday. Sat-urday. Those that went were: Mr. and Mrs. Ray Finlinson, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Finlinson, Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Finlinson, Mr. and Mrs. Bur-nis Bur-nis Finlinson, Mrs. Lee Shipley and family of West Jordan, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Whatcott of Fillmore, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Finlinson and family of Calif. They report a nice trip and lots of fun. That evening ev-ening Kent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burnis Finiinson, was welcomed home at a missionary dance. Kent. just recently returned from a two-year two-year mission in Britian. A large crowd enjoyed this dance. Sunday njght Elder Finlinson gave his report to a capacity crowd in the chapel. Kent and his father came from Calif, where they are working for this occasion. Mr. Don Harris is home for a few days with hi9 father Earl Harris Har-ris and other relatives. Grant Finlinson had their child ren Sandra, Janet and David and their families home for the Memorial Mem-orial Day weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Anderson went to St. George Saturday morning morn-ing to be at the temple with their son Meldon and his wife Jean and two children for a temple marriage. Congratulations to all at this wedding. wed-ding. There have bten so many visitors in Oak City for camping, fishing and Memorial Day it is almost m-possible m-possible to mention all of them. Some stayed a few days, others only for the day. I am sure all were very welcome and hope they will return soon. The report came that most all had good fishing especially good fishing weather. Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Alldredge were at St. George last Friday for the temple wedding of their daugh ter Winona and Fred Tolbert ana had their little son sealed to them. Fred and Winona have gone to Salt Lake for the summer where he has employment. Mrs. Orvil Jeffery and Mrs. Ada line Jeffery were in Provo last Thursday night to attend the Baccalaureate Bac-calaureate Services at the BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sogers were also to the graduation exercises at the BYU as their son Marlow graduated. grad-uated. There were several from our area and I hope they are all mentioned men-tioned in their various ward news. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Jeffery and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Jeffery and family fa-mily fished at Panguitch Lake and had a real good outing. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jeffery left Delta last Saturday to move their j furniture to Albuquerque where Arthur has accepted a job with an accounting firm. They will leave ' here to be there in July. Mrs, phobe Bills and son Mr. and Mrs. DeLoy Bill and two children spent Sunday in Delta for Memorial Day. The BiLs lived in the home now owned by Bus Shields. Mrs. Adaline Jeffery spent several sev-eral davs in Salt LakA last week with her daughter, Pearl and attended at-tended "The Greatest Story Ever Told". Pearl brot her home for, Memorial Day. Mr. Oliver Tripp and Delora were in Monday and spent the day with Mrs. Jeffery. Mrs. O'irer Tripp is back East visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Schlappi. Mr. and Mrs. Burnus (Marjorie) Hilldabrand of Phoenix, Ariz, spent Thursday night with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Whicker. They were on their way to Salt Lake to visit Mr. and Mrs. George Dobson. I Friday night Mr. and Mrs. J. Barney White and gTandson of Las Vegas stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Whicker and visited with their mother, Mrs. Mina Steele. Mr. George Dobson and Both of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Dobson of Farmington and Mrs. Alton Al-ton Steele of Provo spent Monday in Deita to decorate their graves and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Whicker.
