Show Millard County Chronicle Thursday, A pril 18, 1963 Oak City News MAE H. SHIPLEY An Easter Cantata was the extra highlight for our Easter Sunday Sacrament services. The music for the cantata was led by the choir leader Mrs. Eldonna Anderson. Or ganists were Edithe Finlinson and Afton Dutson. Scripture reading was given by Scott Sheriff. Many solos, duets and trios were given by the choir members which were very good. A large crowd was out to enjoy the cantata and many compliments were given the choir for their fine work by all taking part. Roger Nielson was graduated from Primary, He was accepted as a deacon in the ward. Bishop and Mrs. Richard Finlinson Finlin-son and family of Paul, Idaho, visited vis-ited in Oak City over the weekend and attended Sunday evening services. ser-vices. Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Anderson and grandson Daniel spent the weekend week-end at Tropic. Mr. and Mrs. Eldro Jeffery and two daughters were Oak City visitors vis-itors Sunday coming for the cantata. can-tata. Mrs. Eddie Jacobson has returned return-ed home from Salt Lake. She has been with her daughter Arvilla for the past two months. Her health has improved some. Arvilla and sons brot her home and will visit here a week. Visitors from Cedar City were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Roper and family fa-mily and Mr. Scott Sheriff. Lloyd and Ann Cooper and family fa-mily of Salt Lake visited for Easter with Mrs. Eliza Anderson and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson and family of Delta visited their mother, Mrs. Mary Anderson. They attended the cantata services. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Anderson and two sons, Moyle and Byrant were in Salt Lake Friday and Saturday. Sat-urday. They Eastered with daughter daugh-ter Orpha and family Saturday. What happy news came to Lorna and Burton Lovell and Emery and Lemira Dutson, grandparents of a safe arrival of a new grandson born April 11 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake to Roland and Roberta Ro-berta Dutson. Lorna visited with the proud parents several days. Congratulations Roland and Roberta Rober-ta and all concerned. Mrs. Esther Christensen had her daughter Vernona and family of Salt Lake visiting for Easter. At the Wilford Sheriff home was Wilburn and Elaine Olsen and children for Easter. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Faust and little lit-tle daughter visited a few days in Oak City with his mother, Mrs. Amy Faust and his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Finlinson. Their home is in Seattle, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Lovell has had their son Elwood and family of Monticello visiting, also, their son Monan and family from Clearfield Clear-field visiting. Mrs. Alice Anderson had her sister sis-ter Isobel and niece visit her last week. Mrs. Amy Faust spent a few days in Salt Lake. Mrs. Lucy Christensen Christen-sen of Delta stayed with her mother moth-er Mary Finlinson while she was gone. Connie and Dahl Powell and baby ba-by visited Saturday and Sunday with the Ray Lovell family for Easter. Also, the Max Lovell family from Riverton. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Peterson and family of Salt Lake visited in Oak City for the weekend. Mrs. Josephine Lyman visited her sister Harriet and family last week from Provo. Mrs. Mae Shipley had her son Wesley and family of Salt Lake with her Saturday and Sunday, also al-so Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Day of Bountiful. She Eastered with them Saturday at the sandhills. Sunday her son Lee Shipley and family visited. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Shipley and little new son Mike visited. We were all glad to see the youngest grandson too, parents Lee and Norine Shipley. Little Kris is the eleventh child of this Shipley family. Last Thursday Grant Finlinson and his daughter Sandra and little grandson Russell visited with Ann Finlinson at the Payson hospital. Ann's mother Mae Shipley went with them. Oak City's male quartette, Bishop Bish-op Lyman Finlinson, Reece Finlinson, Fin-linson, Fred Nielson and Dean Anderson An-derson sang at the Quartette Festival Fes-tival in Spanish Fork last Thursday Thurs-day night. Many Oak City people went up for the event. LeRay and Mina Pratt and children child-ren visited at the Bert Roper home. Tom and Andyce Rogers and baby ba-by were with the Wayne Nielson family for the weekend. Claudia Jacobson and Virginia Nielson were home for a few days from Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lovell and children spent from Friday to Sunday Sun-day at St. George with son Merton and family and daughter Merlene and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Finlinson spent Sunday at Mapleton for the blessing bless-ing of great-grandson Mike Shipley. Ship-ley. Grant Finlinson and children Robert, Ro-bert, Ranae and Douglas and Kent and Sandra Dewsnup and Russell Eastered at Nephi Park and then visited Mrs. Ann Finlinson at Pay-son Pay-son hospital Saturday. That looks much better than the wind and dust storms we've had here the past two days. Our income in-come tax forms are all filled out and mailed, or at least they should be. Therefore, our minds should be able to comprehend something else yet never be idle, because idleness is the burial of a living man. Many people were here for the funeral services of Mr. John Talbot Tal-bot Wednesday, April 10. The speakers spea-kers at the services told of his many ma-ny great qualities and the many flowers expressed the love of his family and friends. We will all miss him, but let us not forget Mrs. Talbot, Tal-bot, she will be the one who will miss him most and a phone call or house call will mean a lot to her. Valerie Tolbert stayed over night last week in Hinckley with her girl friend Vickie Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Baird and children of Richfield spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Wilkins. Sunday Barbara Anderson and children of Oak City joined them for Easter. Mrs. Donna Nielson Haycock and children, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Nielson Niel-son and baby and Mr. and Mrs. Dee Nielson all of Salt Lake spent Easter holiday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Nielson has been taking their 4-yr. old daughter daugh-ter Debbie to Provo to an eye specialist. spe-cialist. Debbie has been having some serious eye trouble. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Nielson spent several days in Salt Lake with their children. Then last Friday they went to Provo to see their daughter-in-law, Eva Lue Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Lile Johnson are in Salt Lake. Lile is going in to the hospital for surgery. We hope he will get along just fine. Earl Greathouse has been ill and had to make several trips to Spanish Span-ish Fork for medical care. Harry Carrington purchased the Dr. Ford home some time ago and has been tearing it down. Last week while working at it, the ceiling ceil-ing collapsed and fell on Harry. He was pinned beneath the rafters and plaster for some time. He escaped es-caped with no broken bones, but received bruises and was quite ill for several days as a result of the accident. Colleen Nielson Fowler and children child-ren and Kathlynn Nielson from Salt Lake spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Nielson, Na-da Na-da Simpson and Laura Bradfield went to Provo last Thursday to see Dr. Smith and to shop. Keith will enter the Utah Valley Hospital on the 28th of April for surgery on his arm. Grandma Sarah Ann Wiley celebrated cele-brated her 87th birthday on the 12th. During the weekend, all her children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren were here with her. She had a beautiful birthday cake, flowers and other gifts. Many friends and relatives from all a-round a-round called to see her. She isn't too well right now, but we are all hoping she will soon be feeling much better. At the Dean Eatough home over the weekend were Mrs. Kate Hayes and daughter Dian, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hayes and children and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hayes and boys, all from Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Aralda Jones and boys, assisted Dale Jones and family fa-mily move from Tintic to Santa-quin Santa-quin Saturday. Sunday they visited Mr. and Mrs. John Elliot in Pay-son. Pay-son. Mrs. Elliot has been ill for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. William Overson went to Provo and Orem over the weekend to see their children, Le-land Le-land and Carolyn Overson and Ellen El-len and Myrna Frazier and children. child-ren. At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Nielson for Easter dinner were Carol Ann's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Little, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Morrison and boys, and her sister Dorothy and husband hus-band Chris Hansen from Delta and Mr. and Mrs. Clead Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Overson and children of Murray and Mr. lor Corbetts and Mr. and Mrs. Otis Cor-bett, Cor-bett, Mr and Mrs. Dave Poulsen and family, and Richard and Norma Nor-ma Fullmer and family and their tiny month-old baby James Theodore. Theo-dore. Oak City Canyon was nice and we had a good time and a very good picnic. Evan and Dale Riding and their children spent Easter with their mother, Mrs. Eulalla Riding. They, too, had a canyon picnic. Lee Talbot is home for a week to catch up on farm work. He does carpenter work in Ogden. Dick Talbot was home over the weekend. He is working on a ranch near Las Vegas. While here he cut his hand quite badly and had to go to the doctor. Kathleen Petersen, daughter of Earl and Afton Petersen had her 10th birthday one day this week. Jackie Johnson, daughter of Garland Gar-land and Phyllis Johnson is home over the weekend from USU in Logan. Garland went to Provo to check with a doctor about the trouble he has been having in his neck. I think he went Thursday. We sincerely sin-cerely hope he can get relief and feel fine again real soon. Mr. and Mrs. Myron (Doc) Taylor Tay-lor drove in from their home in Ely Wednesday evening and went back Thursday evening. They had left their two children in Ely, so were anxious to get home. They visited with Ed and Margaret Tay- and also drove to Provo on her family for Sunday dinner, Alva Jr. and family and Hal and Marie and little daughter Maxine. Alva Jr. has moved Into part of the Garn Moody place (now leased by Johnsons) until they get their new home ready to live in. Joe Young and wife and son have moved to California, (near Fresno) 4-H CLUB ORGANIZES The 4-H'ers who are taking beef, held their first meeting Thursday, April 15 at the Delta High School. Most everyone went to the sand hills for a picnic and to roll their Easter eggs. The city might call people to come there often, but there's nothing like the sandhills for Easter. People come from everywhere to enjoy them. Sunday the children all looked so pretty in their new Easter outfits and the Sunday School presented a real good program. The wind and dust was so bad in the afternoon most everyone stayed home and visited with friends and relatives. The program in Sacrament meeting meet-ing Sunday night was given by High Councilman Thurman Moody. Talks were given by Mr. Moody and his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lyman. Dora Rose sang a solo, "My Task", accompanied by Mrs. Moody. Remarks were made by Bishop Phil Nielson. Prayers were offered by Howard Nielson and Eddie Dutson. Fireside chat was held after meeting for the young people. Sister Minnie Ashby is 86 years old today (April 16). Reva says it was a calm beautiful day up there while here we had wind, wind, and more wind. Reva Bliss and Leah Reid attended at-tended the hospital openhouse and also visited Dr. Lyman's all-electric home Saturday. Sydney and Cecila Young were at the Alva Young home Sunday.
