Show Millard County Chronicle Thursday, Jan. 14, 1960 Hinckley - CLASSIFIED ADS -By INEZ RIDING An open letter to my three daughters: daugh-ters: Dear darlings, It is time to tell you more things that I am finding out on this road of life and I want you all to pay close attention. Daughters, if you will heed what I have to say and take it in the spirit that it is intended then you may avoid a pitfall or twp. The first thing that I hope you will learn is that a woman's place is in the home. No matter, that Mother goes to work almost every day at the shop, I know where I should be and where I want to be. There is much joy to be had from trying to do your utmost to be a good wife and a good mother and trying to keep a shiny house. In fact, dears, there is nothing that brings me any more joy than to have the house all slicked up and a good meal cooking for the family. fam-ily. (And the family scattered to every house in the block and the television blaring away and me screeching to the top of my voice, "Where are all of you?" and "Wonder "Won-der why I feel so nervous today?" and "Gee, this being a wife and a mother is for the birds") Yes, my dears, then I am at my happiest. A little thing that I want all three of you to learn is how to do mending. I am, also, at my happiest hap-piest when I get the mending neatly neat-ly done and everything put away for a week. It doesn't bother me too much when that last button is green and the rest of the buttons but-tons on the shirts are blue, it's done. And I hope'it won't bother any of you. It doesn't bother that I don't like to take out that safety pin and put in stitches that last only one week. It doesn't matter that all the socks are white and all I have left are colored patches. I've managed to go through a big stack of mending and put it away. Yes, my darlings, your mother is happy then. Please learn the art of mending, mend-ing, dears. My darlings, you will find much happiness in keeping all the windows win-dows in a house clean. Keep in mind always just how mother cleans the windows with that little bottle of super-dooper window cleaner that she so lovingly sprays SALE n LADIES' COATS Vi DISCOUNT HUGS' Sa3e mm Cm Pillows, Drip-dry Fabrics, Pillow Slips SAVE AT OUR JAIIUARY CLEARANCE SALE HOY! on and wipes off. Never mind the little streaks that are left, darlings, or the candy smudges that won't come off at the first try, they have a way of waiting for the next time. Now, all of you remember how happy mother is when she gets the windows cleaned and do likewise. My cherished ones, another time that you will know complete happiness hap-piness is when you are in the process pro-cess of defrosting. There is not another an-other thing that can bring more joy to you than that little task. I hope that you will remember how long mother waits between defrostings defrost-ings so that she can be happier when she does get to it. Always keep in mind to let the frost pile up so thick that when the defrosting defrost-ing is completed that not only the drip pan is full, but the whole refrigerator re-frigerator is full and water standing stand-ing on the floor. Yes, loves, that is happiness in its purest form. Are your little eyes tired? Well, darlings, I'm sorry, but time has a way of getting away from all and I want you to know these things so if you are tired, just put the letter aside and rest awhile. There, that belter? Now, if you are rested enough there are a few more little tricks that I want to pass on to you. You are fast approaching ap-proaching womanhood and you should know these things. Loveys, a little thing that causes me dismay is getting down cobwebs. cob-webs. To tell you the truth, I'd much rather just sit and look at them. And when you see me sitting sit-ting and reading and cobwebs tickling tick-ling me on the nose, you see me another time when I'm the happiest. happi-est. Now , darlings, it isn't possible for all of you to be just like me. One of you will undoubtedly feel that you can't stand cobwebs at all and will make that your life long drive. Will that be you, Lyn-ette? Lyn-ette? Or you, Kris? How about it, Myrna? Will you be the one that has to get them down? Well, my dear or dears, if you will be the kind of person who cannot stand cobwebs, a quick little trick to getting get-ting them down is to take a good healthy swing at them with your dishtowel! Of course, that will leave part of them up, but if you swing often enough, darlings, you can keep them up higher than your SALE earaiice saie LADIES' CAR COATS Vi DISC0U11T 23 GRANDCHILDREN White C3 ranels, laeas Diapers, DE LTQ'S DEPfWmmT STORE Jr smW( (do). You will find, my loves, thaht the little dishtowel can be used many ways and for many things. Take care of your dishtowels, darlings, i much happiness can be derived from the proper use of them. Another An-other use that I have found for a dishhtowel is in keeping the kitchen kitch-en floor clean. Sugars, all you have to keep in mind in keeping those grease spots off the kitchen floor is your DISH TOWEL and SPIT. If you practice dilligently and learn to move fast enough, you can spit on the corner of the dishtowel and in one motion have that grease spot removed without your loved ones ever being the wiser. I just tried to step over one puddle and sat down in the middle of it. We shall miss sister Almira Pratt. The other grandparents are the Taylor Ridings of Delta. This makes 40 grandchildren for us. This was the first baby born in the new hospital there. Before this the stork had to fly 63 miles to Price or 54 miles to Moab. Our toaby was sMowered with gifts for being the first child born there. Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Mr. Edgar Taylor slipped on the ice and broke his hip Friday and was taken to Salt Lake to have it set. We haven't heard from him since, Margaret went with them. Mr. Follett Taylor is here visiting visit-ing his mother, Mrs. Marie Taylor, Delta and other folks. Follett lives in California. A number of our young people attended the Youth Conference Sunday afternoon in the Stake House. It was really thrilling to see more youth than adults present pre-sent and to hear talks from the young people and some very good advise from brothers, Jay Nelsen and Verdell Bishop. Thank goodness our church is doing all it can to help its young people if they will only listen and heed the counsel given them.
