Show Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Bert and Lucile Hales and their family In their great loss. May the passing of time help heal the wound that they now have in their hearts. We also extend sympathy to the Skeem family in the loss of their Mother, Mrs. Annie Skeem. We will miss her but know she has at last gone to rest, free from the pain that she has so long endured. ELLA CHEISTENSEN Tuesday in Relief Society meeting meet-ing our President, Mrs. Earl Stan-worth Stan-worth read letters- received from our boys, LaVoy Stewart and Dick Willoughby, who are in the service. Thanking all the people who remembered re-membered them at Christmas time. Their gifts and beautiful cards helped to make for them a happy Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skeem and family were in California during the holidays and saw the Rose Parade. Pa-rade. We spent a week in Las Vegas and just about froze. Had a nice visit with the kids, also with Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Hawley. Mrs. Celia Christensen was In Fillmore Friday visiting her sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brush from Calif, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Nickle during the New Year holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Day had a narrow escape from fire with their home during the holidays. Mrs. Day said she could smell smoke but. could see no fire. She had her son Bob go up in the attic and he found it full of smoke. Locating the smoldering smol-dering fire he tore rafters apart and with help they soon had the fire out. Another bout with fire happened to Carl Stanworth and Dee Stevens. Both men were working down to Black Rock. The stove exploded and sparks flew in every direction, some landing on Dee's bedding which soon was in flames, destroying destroy-ing all of it. Miss Yvonne Manz from Pasadena, Pasa-dena, Calif., spent a week visiting her grandmother, Mrs. A. P. Anderson. Ander-son. Mrs. Phylsis Anderson had her sister, Mrs.. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Anderson and son Raymond left Monday morning for Salt Lake. Oasis MIA will present a mystery play in three acts entitled, "Who Killed Aunt Caroline." OAK CITY Mrs. Mae H. Shipley There was no church news in Oak City Sunday, everyone that could went to Conference at Delta and enjoyed the Conference very much. Mr. and Mrs. LeRay Pratt and children spent several days here from Roy, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stuart were in Salt Lake for a bone check-up for their little son, Scott. A very successful Fire Side chat was held Sunday evening. 27 young people were present, from possibly 35 young people. Refreshments were served. Misses Claudia and Muriel Jacob-son Jacob-son left last week to attend Dixie College. ' .' ' Calvin Dutson spent one or two days in Salt Lake. He was having a bone operation an his arm. Mrs. Meldon Anderson spent the past weekend in Oak City from McGill, Nevada. The Glen Christensen family were Oak City visitors from Provo, Sunday. Oak City extends sympathy to the Thomas Pratt family at the death of his Mother. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Christensen Christen-sen from Aurora visited their father, fa-ther, Mr. Collier Lovell last Saturday. Satur-day. They took him to Lynndyl to visit Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nielson and family. Mrs. Barbara Anderson went to Salt Lake for a physical check-up last week. Yesterday on my way to Conference, I saw so many Meadow Mea-dow Larks I almost thought Spring was here. Miss Gladys Banks drove down from Salt Lake for the weekend with the Herbert Abegglen family. They all attended the Conference session, Sunday morning before her return home. Miss Shirley Sheriff was an overnight over-night guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Nielson Saturday, coming down from Vernon. Sunday she attended the Conference at Delta, Mr. Dan Roberts who took her back to Vernon. Ver-non. Mr. Roberts spent Saturday night with Ellis and Lyman Porter. Mrs. Alpha Nielson drove to Springville Saturday for the day with her mother, Mrs. Jean Ashby and Mrs. Lola Thompson, who came by train from Inglewood, Calif. The Thompsons have been called back to Hawaii as labor missionaries and will sail Jan. 22. Mrs. Thompson came for a short visit 'before their departure. She told of a tragic fire that burned the home of their son, j Kent and family, leaving them with only the clothes they stood In. It happened in the morning hours while the family was outside cleaning the yard. Air. and Mrs. William Overson are home after a week in San Francisco Fran-cisco for the wedding of their daughter, Hazel and Don Margare-tier. Margare-tier. The wedding was a lovely affair af-fair at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Durrant. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Frazier of Holbrook, Arizona were there also. Wednesday night a group assembled as-sembled at the church for the purpose pur-pose of organizing a choir. A good number were present and it is hoped we will soon have a choir. Mrs. Lucille Nielson, Mrs. Eleanor Nielson and Mrs. Mina Overson are helping with the directing. Our two little grandchildren, Joyce and Edward spent the day here Friday while their parents, Mr. and 'Mrs. Tillman Johnson were in Salt Lake for the day. Tom Best was taken to the Nephi Hospital where he has had blood transfusions and is suffering from ru,ptured ulcers. Lawrence Bradfield was taken to the same hospital Sunday with the flu and is improving daily. Mr. and Mrs. Devon Roper and small son, from Logan, visited over the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Terry and family. Mrs Christina Boothe had a bad hemorrhage last Friday and stayed overnight in the hospital, returning home Saturday. She is doing nicely now. We hope she keeps improving. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Davis was en tertained at dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Underbill, Under-bill, with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Holman, Mr and Mrs. John Wind and Herman Munster. The church wide fire side chat was held Sunday night. A good crowd attended.
