The explanations explana-tions given by the judge of reasons rea-sons for placing in the show ring help breeders to see by comparison compar-ison of greatest importance. Breed organizations also make an important contribution to the field of livestock breeding worji as they design show score cards indicating in-dicating features of animals that need to be considered by the breed- F.F.A. The opportunity to do real teaching teach-ing in a masterful way is a potential pot-ential of all livestock shows. , Judges and the shows themselves should have but one objective that of education both for the exhibitor ex-hibitor and the public. During the past 50 years this objective has been largely adhered to. What is o 4-H Leader Somewhere between the sternness stern-ness of a parent, and the comradeship com-radeship of a pal is that mysterious myster-ious creature we call a 4-.II leader. lead-er. These leaders come in all shapes and sizes and may be male or female. But they all have one thing in common a glorious twinkle in their eyes! Four-H leaders are found everywhereat every-whereat judging contests, junior fairs, square dances and talent shows and are always preparing for, sitting through, participating in, or recuperating from a meeting of some kind. They are tireless consumers of muffins, expert at taking knots out of thread, peerless peer-less basketball coaches and spend hours on the telephone. A 4-H leader is many things an artist making a float for the Fourth of July, a doctor prescribing for an underfed calf, a counselor at camp, a lawyer filling out reports and a shoulder to cry on when that dress just won't fit! Nobody else is so early to rise and so late home at night. Nobody else has so much fun with such a large family of boys -and girls. We sometimes forget them, but we can't do without them. They receive no salary, but we can never repay them. They are Angels in Aprons, Saints in Straw Hats. Their only reward is the love of the kids and the respect re-spect of the community. But when they look round them at the skills they've taught, and the youth they've 'built, there's an Inner voice from somewhere that says, "Well Done". 4 Now if you'd like to be known as "one with a glorious twinkle in your eye" contact the Extension office. He emphasized that no orders of less than 100 trees total or 25 trees of any one species may be ordered. Fifteen different kinds of trees and shrub seedlings are available avail-able this year. They vary In price, depending upon species, from $2.00 to $6.00 per hundred seedlings, postpaid, post-paid, in Utah. "Last year some 224 thousand seedlings were distributed In Utah under this program. If planted in a continuous 3-row windbreak that many trees and shrubs would stretch for 90 miles," Dr. Daniel explained. Special care should be given to the small seedlings to prevent their roots from growing out, he cautioned. cau-tioned.
