Western at the open house his children had Ibr him on, his 90th birthday. How wonderfully blessed is he to have such a large family and be so well In body and mind. I think I never met a more sincere, friendly, kind, man. He is so considerate of others and by being so interested in others he has kept his youth these 90 years. He stood to greet all those friends who called and without an exception he could call them all by their first name. Mr. Blaine Spendlove took his mother, Mrs. Emma Spendlove, his sisters, Reva Taylor and Wynnie Wright and Ema Lea Taylor to Glendale, Saturday for the funeral of Mrs. Spendlove's 8isterin-law, Mrs. Hattie Spendlove Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Theobald of Provo were down to visit friends and relatives Friday. President Verdeli Bishop took in all the basketball games of the class B tournament. Dana went to some of them. She said they were great. I guess Verdeli has never missed a tournament In years. Bishop Elden G. Hurst made a business trip to Salt Lake City Fri day. Patriarch C. R. Woodbury, Kathie Carrol and Patsy Pratt went with him. Mr. and Mrs". Blaine Spendlove drove to Salt Lake City on Friday to bring Mrs. Spendlove home after a couple of weeks in Salt Lake Tooele and Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Allred Jr. of Salt Lake City took their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Allred for a tri,p down to California during spring vacation of schools. They left Wednesday evening and T3 turned Sunday evening. - Mrs. LaVern Theobald spent two days in Salt Lake City with her son, Leon's wife who has had surgery. sur-gery. Hon andErma Cropper took their two daughters, Connie and Mary Ellen to Provo Thursday and Friday for the ball games. Mr. and Mrs, Walter Ekins spent Thursday in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bishop vis ited at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Wesley Morris Friday and Saturday, It is good to have Lawnie and Joe Morris and children home from Idaho again to live here. Charles Kernell is home from Ok lahoma, feeling much improved in health. He Intends to finish remod eling his home here In town and do some farming. Welcome home Charles.. The best of evrything Is our wish to you. ,Duane Gaili and Paul Theobald spent last week in Phoenix, Arizona and on to Lubboc, Texas, where they visited the Hancock Scraper Plant. They said the weather was really nice and warm down there. Mrs. Nina Shirley of Bryce Can yon visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Dillenbeck last week. George and Angie Cahoon are sporting a pretty new Chrysler. Thats swell. They deserve the best. Stephhen and Larry Love were here over the weekend from Mid-vale. Mid-vale. Larry had his girl friend, Lona Kaye Wilcox from Sandy with him. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Judd have trad ed homes with Mr. and Mrs. Otto Tullis. Now the Judds are down in my childhood home. My fathei built that large, nine room home when I was six years old and J have a very tender spot In my heart for it. Duane Stewart came home from College Wednesday evening and Thursday. He took his father George to Salt Lake to a specialist on account of some trouble he hat had in his ear for a few weeks. Mrs. Marilyn Bennett of Cedai City is visiting at the home of he: parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Allred Leonard Mecham of Salt Lake has been visiting his sisters and brother, Ken this last week. Mr. and Mrs. George Ekins, Margaret Mar-garet and David returned Sunday night from a 1500 mile trip to Ari zona. They went down to Glen Canyon dam, utv the bridge, on to Phoenix, Arizona Ari-zona then on to Tempe where they stayed with Ken Robins. Keith visited his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Edwards in Scotts- dale. They came back by way of Grand Canyon through the Kiabab forest, on to Bryce canyon and home. They also visited Clayton Stapley in his beautiful western store in the heart of Phoenix. Mr. Arthur Palmer an dhis sister, Louise Clothier from Las Vegas and Bertha Palmer from California visited vis-ited relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Morris last week. Mr. and Mrs. Don Larsen and three children of Carson City, Nevada Nev-ada arrived at their mother, Mrs Oleta Swensen's home Sunday night. Don will go back and Margie Mar-gie will stay for a week to visit her mother, Mrs. Ireland in Delta. Hinckley M. I. A. Speech Festival From the seven contestants who spoke Tuesday evening to the subject, sub-ject, "For it must needs be, that there is opposition in all things" 2nd Nephi 211, the judges chose Helen Taylor " 1st, Neal Swensen, 2nd and Jackie Hardy 3rd, Other people giving speeches were Harold Hepworth, Mary Judd, Beth Hep-worth, Hep-worth, and Karolyn Morris. Susan Reeve, accompanied by her sister Norene sang, "I Love A Little Cot tage". To you people who didn't place, you had the experience and the knowledge gained by preparing prepar-ing and learning the talks to present pre-sent to U8, Saturday morning was clean up day on the church farm. They got it all ready for a big day for every one to help this week. Stake Conference at Delta next Sunday. Farewell Testimonial Sunday evening was the farewell fare-well testimonial for Elder Paul E. Damron, prior to his departure for the New England States Mission. The chapel was filled with friends and relatives to wish him success. The program was as follows: Invocation, In-vocation, LuVher Edwards. The ward choir rendered special ntusic. I don't know if every one will be as glad as 1 am to see spring come. Orville and Delia Deem have gone to Brigham City to be with Delia's mother, Mrs. Weaver, over the weekend. Delia's father died a month or two ago. Richard and Norma Fullmer and children, Jean, Willey, Kay and baby connle Rue, from Greenriver, Utah, spent the weekend here and with the Taylor Riding's in Delta. Lloyd and Hildred Talbert drove to Salt Lake Thursday and back Friday. The kids have been out of school tor the Spring holiday since Wednesday. Wed-nesday. It's been too cold for them to really enjoy being outdoors. Friday there was a near hurricane in the evening. You couldn't see a thing out here for an hour or two Helen Marie Stoneking spent the long school vacation In Hinckley, with her grandmother Webb and uncle Clarence. Lola's mother had a very painful accident the first of March. She fell and hurt her arm and right shoulder, while gathering in some clothes.' It is some better now. Mrs. Webb was at Walter's and Lola's, as a dinner guest, March 8. Mr, and Mrs. Lester Webb and family have moved to Delta. It will be handy for little daughter, Patricia Pat-ricia to start kindergarten. It's quite a problem here as we have no furnished transportation far the class. VENICE DAVIS Mr. and Mrs. Ross Searle, Ruby Spiers and Mary Cotton, from Salt Lake City, visited over the weekend week-end with their sister, Henrietta Barben and Marie, Miss Maurine Jensen and friend, Carolyn Truman, from Salt Lake City, visited over the weekend wrilh Maurine's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jensen and family. Mr. and Mrs, Ken Boothe, from Salt Lake City, visited over the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Boothe. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jeffery and small daughter, from Provo, visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Poulson and .r.:'uly, over the Wl'chC'iKl. Mr. and Mrs. Rom Shields are sporling a new pick-up truck, "eon gratulations" Little Mathew Clark and cousins, Nancy, Christine and Deborah Clark all have the measles. Sunday night the program was given by the Bishopric. Talks were given by June Losee, Tressa Jen-son Jen-son and Bishop Frelen Shurtz, a piano selection, "Holy City" was played by Joyce Shields, a good crowd attended. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clark and friend, Dell Sperry, made a trip to Salt Lake City Monduy. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Losee and small daughter visited in Salt Lake City over the weekend with friends and relatives. Mrs. Nora Knight returned to Delta Del-ta during the week from a visit ' ihive months with lu-r dauhter, Rhea, at Paramount, Calif., and Clara, at Las Vegas, Nevada.
