She left on the train Saturday to visit her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Collingham in Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Murray Mur-ray and family and Mrs. Ralph Stoneking of Roosevelt. Mary Stone king is recovering from a recent major operation, and Mrs. Stoneking Stone-king is going to stay and help her out, for a while. We all remember re-member when these folks lived here in Abraham and we especially especi-ally wish Mary a very speedy recovery. re-covery. Mrs. Margaret Taylor and Sandra Lee were in Salt Lake last week for a few days, to get "Sandy" some new glasses. Last Tuesday Karen and Marilyn Mar-ilyn Murray and LaVoy Tolbert took part on a traveling program to Beaver and the schools enroute with the H.H.S. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Taylor were in Manti last Tuesday. A week ago Sarah Brady attended attend-ed a family reunion in Panguitch. Her sister came and drove her down and her parents brought her home Monday. Mrs. Phyllis Johnson also attended attend-ed a get-together with her family fam-ily in Holden. Over the weekend Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Franklin and two boys made a trip to Kanab to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Franklin and their new son. Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Franklin drove up from Chand ler, Arizona, also, and they all enjoyed a good family visit Ral eigh and Peggy returned home Monday by way of Zion's National Park. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bliss Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Engles Bliss and family from Springville and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bliss and daughter of Dragerton. Last week Jimmy Bell from Salt Lake visited at the Schena home and Saturday and Sunday Benny and Becky were down for a visit for Mother's Day. Also Bill and Jena Bliss and Hugh Kirkendall visited there Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Fullmer and family from Magna were down to visit for Mother's Day with Mr. and Mrs. John Fullmer. Dave and Kathleen Poulson and children also spent Sunday with them. Mrs. Dorothy Thompson left Friday Fri-day on the train for California to go stay with her sister, Mrs. Afton Peterson and family. Mr. and Mrs. James Brady and children enjoyed a nice Mothers' Day dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Al-vin Al-vin Bohen. Shirley Sheriff from Lynndyl is staying at the Jay Fullmer home helping care for LaWena while she is ill. The Mother's Day program in Sunday school was enjoyed by everyone. Mrs. Erma Peterson gave a talk about "Mother's Day", Hally Jolty Stitchers Arc Entertained Elections were held last Thursday Thurs-day for Pep Club and F.H.A. off-ivers off-ivers and the girls chosen were told in the Pep Club Girl's Day assembly. For the Pep Club officers are: President, Marilyn Murray, vice president, Myrna Petersen; Secretary, Coleen Blake, reporter, Edith Petersen. For FJLA. officers: President, Margene Hilton; Vice president, Barbara Whicker, Secretary, M ax-in ax-in e Reeve; reporter, Barbara Black, Song leader, Sherlene Talbot. Out going officers are Pep Club: Pres. Carma Wright, Vice Pres. Verlene Stevens, secretary, Lyla Rae Talbot Tal-bot and reporter, Shirley Davis. For the F.H.A.; President, Helen Black, vice president, Coleen Blake, Secretary, Margene Hilton, reporter Jolene Torrens, Song leader, Anna Lee Swensen. A vote of thanks is to be given to these officers for their splendid work and we hope the new officers can do as well Hinckley baseball team played Delta last Monday in league play. The final score was 3 to 5 in favor of Hinckley The game was exciting and very well played. Pitchers for Hinckley were Cloyd Theobald and Hal Young, for Delta, Del-ta, Carl Winfield and Clinton Roper. Ro-per. The pitchers were both supported sup-ported by excellent teams. The "Sunset Trophy" was given to Hal Young from Abraham who played a wonderful ball game. Clinton Roper from Delta was also given a trophy. There was a good representation of both schools to the game. The Seniors sold punch and cookies. I Girls' Ray was held Friday, May j?. An assembley was presented 'by the Pep Club girls and was very cleverly worked out to the theme of "Boys, Boys Boys". After the assembly the girls drew for boy's names. After the drawing the girls got sock lunches from the lunch room and they ate dinner. din-ner. After dinner all students went to Delta to the Show "The Greatest Great-est Show On Earth" and was thoro ghly enjoyed by all. That night a dance was held in the gym with Bud's Band furnishing furnish-ing the music. All girls brought their boy's corsages and everyone every-one traded around and had a wonderful won-derful time. The preferred couple was drawn and was Carma Wright and Jimmy Mienburg, who received a box of choclates.. Everyone enjoys- and loves Girls' Day every year. There was a "No Date Yearbook Dance" Wednesday, May 13, 1953, held to pass out yearbooks and have them autographed. There Kay Young sang a song, Patty Taylor gave a recitation, Charlene Peterson played an accordian solo, Clark Tolbert gave a recitation, Eugene Young gave an appropri ate talk and Marilyn Murray told a story. tach mother was given a nice booklet. The Jolly Stitchers met Friday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. Doris Jensen. Her mother, Mrs. John Wind, assisted as hostess. Special musical numbers for the program were vocal solos by Virginia Virg-inia Rose and Dorothy Abbott, with Phillis Kay Mtrody as accompanist. Mrs. Amelia Heise, early club member now visiting here, was a special guest. Delta F. ti. A. The Yearbooks Year-books are very nice this year and we all appreciate the work of the staff. On the staff are Kathyrn Ekins, Shirley Davis, Marilyn Murray Mur-ray Dale Carling, Anna Lee Swensen Swen-sen Mario Morris, and Dorothy Morris. A puppet, show was given to the Hinckley high school last Wednesday. Wed-nesday. The play was "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp" and was very cleverly worked out in three acts. The students enjoyed this entertainment very much. The Chapter judging teams went ! to Logan to see what they could do. The teams were: Dairy, How-I How-I ard Johnson, Tommy callister and .Merrill Johnson , Livestock: Jim-; Jim-; my Thomas, Lyman Henrie and Jack Nielson. The results have jjpt yet been announced, except I for the 'first three places, we're l hoping to get a fourth or a fifth j place. I A judging contest is also going I to be held in the Stock Show. We are entering two teams from Ag I; I one from Ag. II, III, and IV each, j There are going to be a lot of pro-i pro-i jects from our chapter entered in the show this year. Frank Baker and Jim Thomas are exhibiting some swine in the Spanish Fork Show this week also. Monday the chapter is going to hold a hay ride party up Oak City Canyon. The boys are going to take girls, and it promises to be a lot of fun Bud Nielson is going stag.
