Show New Utah - Thursday, April 29, 2004 - Page 14 John Quincy Adorns ? John Quincy Adams, 98, passed away April 22, 2004. At the time of his death, John Q. was the longest living Alpine native. He was born November 21, 1905 to Albert John and Ada Jane Mellor Adams in Alpine, Utah. December 3, 1930 John and Bertha Elthera Brems were married l- I in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. John was a worker in the family sheep herd, worked in the Nevada and Utah mines, worked at Geneva Steel and was a farmer all of his life.' He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions including a Stake missionary and a Temple worker as a High Priest. John and Bertha were married for 73 years. He is survived by his wife and 5 children: David M. (Shirley) Rulon J. Mechom Rulon J. Mecham, age 87 of Lehi, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 in O r e m , Utah. He was born July 23, ;1916 in Duchesne, Utah, son of Lewis Walter Wal-ter and Pearl Ivy Mecham. Married Thelma Black, Nov. 25, 1935. She died Sept. 19, 1989. He married mar-ried Alene M. Heiselt, June 16, 1990, in Lehi, Utah. Rulon was a mink rancher and had lived in Union, Utah before moving to Lehi. j . ( i V M He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an inventor and gold processor proces-sor and enjoyed prospecting and working with gold. He was a songwriter and played the guitar and used his musical talents singing and entertaining at rest homes and other functions. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Survived by his wife, Alene of Lehi; one son and three daughters: Jerry (Shirley) Mecham, Ogden; Diane Anderson, Cambridge, Ohio; Hene Evans and companion, com-panion, Robert Button, Murray; Mur-ray; Pat (Dallas) Jackman, West Jordan; step-children: Mortho Pope Robertson jumm- ji i mm j f :' .. if! ' r r"N Martha Pope Robertson, 75, died at home on April 24, 2004, following an extended extend-ed illness. Born February Feb-ruary 26, 1 9 2 9, LaFayette, Georgia. Married Matt R. Robertson, May 4, 1952. . Employed 19 years as an elementary school librarian in American Fork. Following Follow-ing retirement, worked in Yellowstone National Park as a postmistress, Snow Canyon State Park as a campground host, and Phoenix, AZ, for the U. S. Census Bureau. Past Bethel and Grand Guardians, Int'l. Order of Job's Daughters; Member, Order of Eastern Star; Past President, Chapter Z, P. E. O. Martha was gentle and kind and found great joy in giving to others.
