Scott, 80, . . i . . - Hugh Vernon passed away February Feb-ruary 8, 2004, after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born October 13, 1923 to desse William Clarence and Delia Dresene Bennett Scott in Deertrail, Colorado. Scotty married Ida Chiaretta on June 14, 1943 in Portland, Oregon. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary anniver-sary in June of 2003. His greatest joy was playing cards every Wednesday with his family. He was fun loving, generous, gener-ous, loved people and was a good friend to all. He retired from Fogle Red-E-Mix after 30 years of employment. He is survived by his wife, 4 children, Jackie (Monty) Mathie, Lake Oswego, Oregon, 'Bill (Chris) Scott, Midvale, Joan (Darrell) Jakeman, Draper, Janet (Jerry) Johnston, Sandy, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. A special thank you to Dr. Melinda Midgley and Amy for their special care. West, 78, or Pleasant Grove passed away v. m- Nelda Foote Nelda Iris Johnson Foote, J- 77, of Pleasant Grove passed away February Feb-ruary 5, 2004 after a long battle bat-tle with heart disease. dis-ease. She was born February 25, 1926 in Provo, Utah to Lafayette and Iris Webb Johnson. She married Elwood Earl Foote on May 5, 1950 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Nelda grew up in Lake-view Lake-view and graduated from Lincoln High School. She enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of many family vacations with her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing handiwork: quilting, painting and crafts. She was a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully faithful-ly in many callings during her life. She had many wonderful won-derful friends that kept her going right up until her passing. Utah to Thomas E. and Cloe Freeman West. He married Geraldine Patrick and was later divorced. He married Ruby Clark on July 10, 1955 and enjoyed 40 years together. She passed away in 1996. Ralph grew up in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove and attended schools there. He worked at Geneva Steel as Crane Operator, retiring after 38 years of service. Ralph's passion was his animals and his farm. He is survived by six sons and three daughters: Linda (Roy) Scott, Ogden; Sid (Terri) West, Pleasant Grove; Kerry West, Lehi; (Connie) Bassett, Butte, MT- Theo Bassett, bait Lake; Toinette Barnson Salt Lake; Chris (Cathy) Bassett, Lehi; 29 grandchildren grand-children and 45 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his brother, Don West, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. He was preceded preced-ed in death by two brothers: broth-ers: Reed and Thomas; and four sisters: Edna Atkinson, Atkin-son, Hazel Strasburg, Elva Hardy and Mary Chns-tensen. Chns-tensen. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 10, 2004 in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Ceme-tery. The instructor for these classes is Marlene Richardson of Provo. Marlene has taught classes for the American Fork Fine Arts Council for the last three years. She has won many honors as a colored col-ored pencil artist and attends yearly classes to learn new techniques. She was born Oct. 13, 1915 in Hinckley, Utah to George Lyle and Clara Mae Walker Stewart. She was the 2nd of 11 children. She graduated from Hinckley Hinck-ley High School, Excclcis Beauty College, and Utah Technical College. Married ..Bud W. Pate Aug.. 15. 1M6 in Holden, Utah. In "her younger years she participated partici-pated in musicaf 'productions 'produc-tions and drama. While attending Beauty School in Salt Lake City, she sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Taberna-cle Choir. She had a beautiful beauti-ful voice and sang many years with the American Fork City Choir. She had a wonderful talent of playing the piano. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is the mother of five children; Patricia Rae (William) Fox of Sandy, Bud Duane (Joan) Pate of Holla- day, Kay L. (Jane) Fate of Am.
