Overall, 13 Vikings will advance to the state championship cham-pionship tournament, which began yesterday and concludes tomorrow evening at UVSC. The Vikings posted 288.5 points, far ahead of second place Lone Peak at 231.5. They were followed by Tim-panogos Tim-panogos at 210.5, Orem at 140.5 and Mountain View at 123.5. Pleasant Grove qualified two wrestlers each in the lightest weight classes. At 103, Keola Goodman pinned teammate Colt Thaxson at 2:36, but both will advance. In the 112 bracket, Kawai Goodman won an 8-1 decision over Mark Elmer of Lone Peak. In the consolation consola-tion match, Dallin Hansen lost by decision to Mountain View but moves on in fourth place under this year's designated des-ignated weight rotations. At 130, Gehrhart Vuksinik won the consolation consola-tion title by decision to finish fin-ish third. Jacob Woodhouse at 135 finished fourth after losing to Lone Peak's Cory Stilson by decision, but he also goes forward under the rotation rule. Mickey Ottonelli pulled out a taut 7-5 decision over Lone Peak's Cody Flake to win the 145 title. Justin Sorenson won the consolation consola-tion match at 152 over Levi Lewis of Orem by fall to finish fin-ish third. Justin Jacob was also third in the 160 weight class, beating Josh Sorenson Soren-son of Mountain View. Westin Sampson made up for an earlier loss to Lone Peak's Zeke Menden-hall Menden-hall by winning a 10-2 major decision to earn the 171 title. Ted Owens pinned Lone Peak's Doug Mulliner in the 189 match to capture the crown there. At 215, Jaron Hilton retired Mitch Greene of Mountain View by fall at 3:00 to get the title in that class. In the heavyweight division, divi-sion, Chris Clegg pinned Lone Peak's Matt Burnham in 3:30 to advance by finishing finish-ing third.
