Wallgren This is the third in a series reporting what local legislators are doing in this year's legislative session. A resolution recognizing the nation's loss and expressing condolences to the family's of the seven astronauts of the space shuttle Columbia lost upon re-entry Feb. 1, was authored by District 27 representative rep-resentative John Dougall, R, Highland. "Given the importance of the space program to the nation and the fact that many Utahns have dedicated dedicat-ed their careers to making the space program successful, success-ful, we thought it was appropriate to pay tribute to the courage and dedication dedica-tion of those lost," Dougall said. Dougall has also written a bill, HB 310, that will form a committee to address transportation needs for Utah in the next 10- and 20-year 20-year time frames. Dougall said he recognized recog-nized there are needs out there, including serious issues in Utah County, that need to be addressed now. "We need to have a dialogue dia-logue now. It makes no sense to put it off," Dougall said. "We can put our children in dangerous situations on the simulator and teach them how to respond in those hazardous environments so that when they come up against them in the real world they'll know what to do in a way much more effective than just reading about what to do." Dougall said use of these simulators is very effective in the trucking industry. Hawaii has been using it in driver's education courses for a couple of years with great success. Dougall is the representative represen-tative for District 27 covering cover-ing Alpine, Highland, the greater part of American Fork, and the part of Draper Drap-er in Utah County.
