Show New Bfafi - Wednesday, December 5, 2001 - Page 16 'Pleasant Grove Orchestra, Chorus to hold annual Messiah Sing-in Children's Choir to perform The Pleasant Grove Orchestra and Chorus under the: batons of Susan R. Johnson and Nathan Hofheins will present their annual "Messiah Sing-In" on Friday; Dec. .7, at 7:30 p.m. in the-Pleasant Grove Junior High School Auditorium, 810 N. 100 East. The concert is sponsored by the Pleasant Grove Arts Council and is free of charge to the public. Parents are asked to make arrangements for children too young to appreciate the performance to : remain at home. Also, please refrain from the use of scented toiletries or live flowers.: flow-ers.: ; .. Soloists for this year's production pro-duction are: Robert L. Anderson, Emily Bruner, Becky L. Johnson, Wendy Killian, Mikal Muray, Cynthia Patterson and Melanie Westcott. Robert L. Anderson, bass, is 31 years of age and has been singing in and directing choirs for 20 of those years. He trained in Classical Voice at BYU. He has also studied Bel Canto style under Seth Riggs. Emily Bruner, alto, is a native of Salt Lake City. She began singing in choral organization organ-ization in fourth grade. During junior high and high school, she was a member of the Bel Canto and Chorale Choirs, elite groups which toured both the Pacific Northwest and New York City. Becky L. Johnson, soprano, sang in many choirs and choruses cho-ruses throughout elementary, junior high and high school. While attending college, she sang in the UVSC Choir and the LDS Institute Choir. Wendy Killian, alto, has been singing and performing since the age of five. She enjoys many music genres rom country to classical. At Utah State University, she studied Piano Pedagogy. Mikal Murray, tenor, was born in Idaho, but raised in Colorado. He has been singing in choirs throughout his school years, including Jazz, Concert and Show choirs. Cynthia Patterson, soprano, sopra-no, was raised in Salt Lake City. She attended Ricks College and BYU. She has worked in elementary schools and has helped develop a musical enrichment curriculum curricu-lum for school volunteers. Melanie Westcott, soprano, is a graduate of BYU, majoring major-ing in HumanitiesEnglish and minoring in music,, singing in the Women's Chorus. She enjoys opera and has been a member of the Lyric Opera Society. She is also a student of Ewan Mitton. Three complete casts were selected for the various vari-ous "Nutcracker" performances perform-ances with more than 150 children selected to augment aug-ment the URB Company. "The performance of 'Nutcracker' is always a pleasurable experience," Colledge said. "This traditional tradi-tional ballet is something that the entire family can enjoy." Additional roles will be performed by the following: Snow Queen (Amanda Bodily, Jennifer Schow, Elizabeth Willoughby); Waltz of the Flowers Pas De Deux (Amy Peterson, Hollie Hatch, ' Brittany Shoemaker). Other featured soloists include: Nathan Balser, Eric Goodman, Erin Hutchings, Doug Lucas, Kelly Mortensen, Amanda Peet and Hannah Reid. Live orchestra accompaniment will be conducted by Bryce Rytting.
