Show Lehi to host Heart f Heart confab New Utah! - Wednesday, August 15, 2001 - Page 1 1 e Heart t' Heart will be holding its nth annual conference this weekend at if W Junior High School on 700 E.Cedar Hollow Rd. beginning with registration at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17. A The conference cost is $15 for both J" Friday and Saturday with breakdown Cerements for those who can only attend one day. A Friday dinner and Saturday luncheon is also available. Heart tf Heart is a support group for and by IDS people dealing with addictions, cora- DUisions and obsessions of every kind. , The keynote speaker for the conference confer-ence will be Mark Chamberlain, Ph.D.., a Salt Lake therapist and author. Colleen Harrison, author of "He Did Deliver Me from Bondage," will give the ' dosing address. Works used in the Heart t' Heart recovery program are Harrison's book and Alcoholic's Anonymous Big Book along with the Book of Mormon. More than a dozen workshops, recovery recov-ery meetings and a panel discussion are scheduled for the conference along with tune to associate with those who have been able to recover from addictions and ' Co-dependancies. The workshop topics include living with, surviving and overcoming the effects of destructive addictions. Some of the problems Heart t' Heart deals with are gambling, alcohol or substance sub-stance abuse, sexual addiction, eating disorders and workaholicism. The program targets compulsive, addictive and abusive behaviors and individual recovery. Its supporters actively supports the teachings and doctrines doc-trines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Emphasis is given to applying the atonement and teachings of Jesus Christ as a foundation for all personal change. Speakers will share their own experiences experi-ences in dealing successfully with destructive problems. Heart t' Heart has 50 local groups that meet weekly and members gather annually to bear their testimonies, encourage one another, learn together, share success stories, to support others in the difficult challenge of personal change and find hope of heart to change their lives. The Uinta National Forest and Timpanogos Canyon National Monument are easily accessible and in close proximity to Utah, Salt Lake and Heber Valleys. Public lands offer numerous numer-ous experiences during every season ofi;he year. These opportunities include hiking, picnicking, camping, fishing, biking, horseback riding, boating, off-highway vehicle use, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Little Things Mean a Lot, the American Fork-based infant and children's clothing cloth-ing firm, has had several corporate sponsors for quilts it is donating to those in need. The company has had donations from Howard Sherwood Accounting, the Bank of American Fork and Kids in Distressed Situations (KIDS) from New York. The latter has asked for 20 quilts which they will donate. There is still opportunity for companies or individuals to donate either all or part of the cost of the quilts, which will be donated to charities. If sponsors want to have the quilt to donate to anyone they wish, the cost is $68; those who have the Little Things name attached may pay only $51. Donations of any size are accepted. They also will use donated cotton or polyester cotton fabrics of any size. ; 1 Any contributions may be brought or mailed to Little Things Mean a Lot, 455 E. State Rd., American Fork.
