Back to School night will be held on August 28 from 6 until 9 p.m. The first parent conference will be on Oct. 10. The Reflections theme for 2001-2002 is "I hold in my hand..." and entries are due on Dec. 1. Katy Morrill is in charge of Spirit and the theme for the year is "What Would You Do for a Sea of Blue?" School starts on September 27, the Sophomores will have a special spe-cial welcome day to come to school on Thursday September 23. Chad Byron, the student representative and Devin Smith, the student body president joined the PTSA officers for the meeting. Seniors should come today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Juniors should come Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and sophomores sopho-mores can come Friday at the same time. Four Young Women from the Manila 1st Ward recently received their Young Womanhood Recognition awards. Hayley Hanks is the daughter of Scott and Debi Hanks. For her Laurel projects proj-ects she worked at improving improv-ing her talents in piano and dance. She played piano for ward Young Women meetings. meet-ings. She has kept a journal and organized the ward Pennies by the Inch Drive. She will be attending Utah State University. Devry Lynne Johnson, daughter of Craig and Becki Johnson, also earned her award. Her projects included making a scrap-book, scrap-book, organizing a collection collec-tion of journals of thoughts and quotes, church teachings teach-ings and goals and ideas. She served as the president of the Lone Peak High School drill team and organized the Manila Stake Pennies by the Inch Drive. She plans to work and attend Utah Valley State College in the fall. Shelley Cordner is the daughter of Dawayne and Linda Cordner. Her projects included making a quilt for a niece without anyone's help, organizing and con ducting the New Beginnings evening, the , cancer drive, and a fund raising drive for a hospital in Salt Lake. City. She is ' : attending Utah Valley State College. Susan Royster, daughter of Lynn and Johnnie Sue Royster, babysat her nephew for one of her projects. proj-ects. She wrote her thoughts and feelings in her journal each day and worked on a scrapbook and read church books.
