The Vikings will be at their first state qualifying meet when they send teammates team-mates to the Utah High School Track Coaches Invitational at Taylorsville March 31. April 3-4 will see the Vikings competing at the Utah County Invitational, hosted by Lone Peak. Pleasant Grove will send competitors to the Weber State Invitational, scheduled sched-uled April 6-7. Pleasant Grove will host Spanish Fork and Provo April 10, then square off with the Springville Red Devils in an April 17 dual meet at Springville. The Vikings plan on spending April 21 at the Ogden Invitational, April 24 at the Timpview Relays, and April 28 at the Brigham Young University Invitational. They come from different dif-ferent programs. The trick will be blending them into our kind of program early. They bring some great talent tal-ent into the program." Lynch pointed out that only a tew seniors are back from last year's team. Among them are returning starters Ty Denboer, Tyler Lynch, and Darren Losee. The coach said the underclassmen under-classmen will be looking toward them for leadership leader-ship in the heat of the awaiting Region Six battles. Lynch said, I'm impressed with efforts from the boys who have come out. They have been working hard. I anticipate that they will gel together as a team. "I don't coach individuals. I coach teams. One thing the coach wants to see this season different dif-ferent from the last one is how soon the Vikings pick up their first win. Lynch said, I don't want a nightmarish night-marish start like last year." The Vikings lost the first four games of their 2000 season before they had netted net-ted their first win. The Vikings will host the Lone Peak Knights March 15 and Provo Bulldogs on March 20. Pleasant Grove will play its first away game on the Springville Red Devils' field March 28. The American Fork Cavemen will pay the Vikings a call on March 30. Pleasant Grove will play at the Timpview Thunderbirds' Thunder-birds' nest April 3. Pleasant Grove will host the Payson Lions April 10, then travel to Spanish Fork April 12, Lone Peak April 17, and Provo April 24.
