Bellon Capital Community Bank is poised to open their third branch located at 1909 W. State St. in Pleasant Grove. They already have two operating branches in Orem and Provo. Capital is a locally owned and operated bank, started about seven years ago by local investors in Utah County. ' Hal J. Allen, the current president of Capital Community Bank, was an employee at the Bank of Pleasant Grove, where he learned his banking expertise. During Allen's tenure, the name was changed to Deseret Bank, which was then purchased by First Security about ten years ago. Allen approached several investors to organize a smaller community bank and Capital Community Bank in Orem was formed. The second office on north University Ave., in Provo was soon opened and they have now expanded into Pleasant Grove. The new location is ideal for the company since it will be on the new freeway approach coming into Pleasant Grove. Harley Jacobs, the vice-president manager commented, "We have received a lot of positive feedback from our customers cus-tomers in Pleasant Grove. Many of them have banked with us for years and are excited to have an office nearby." The construction on the new building is set to start this summer and is expected expect-ed to be completed within the year. They are currently open and operating out of the trailer on the site. Jacobs would like invite the community to "come bank with us." 'Mi c 1 1 I all . v?f4.r . i Ill :,:'! Bellon Olpin Mortuary has recently completed a year long renovation, boasting a beautiful new interior and a unique computer system to offer the community the best in funeral services. The renovation was completed com-pleted just last month with newly updated viewing rooms, a chapel and family advisory room. The chapel features a beautiful stained glass window, saved from demolition. The renovation also included a large room where patrons may go with a fussy or crying child that has both video and audio so the parent par-ent can still see and hear the service. Olpin can also videotape video-tape the funeral for the family fam-ily if requested. Olpin is also the first and only mortuary in Utah County that offers a new computer system for choosing choos-ing funeral services such as caskets, vaults, and markers. Instead of a casket room, you may now view all 80 caskets offered by Aurora Casket Company on a large TV screen. With a click of a button, you can narrow your choices to viewing feminine or masculine, mas-culine, detailed or simple caskets. The screen will also total all of your choices for you so you know exactly how much money you are spending spend-ing with each choice. The chosen casket can be delivered to the mortuary in two hours and customized materials in 24 hours. The changes have been well-received well-received by families, especially espe-cially those who felt overwhelmed over-whelmed by a room full of casket choices. With the new computer software, families can view customization choices for their loved one's casket with embroidered panels on the Photo by Brian Bellon Paul Olpin and Dave Anderson are in the newly renovated renovat-ed Olpin Mortuary in Pleasant Grove. inside lining of the casket. Families may choose from many different designs or even choose a photo panel silk-screened on the interior of the casket. Small items can be enlarged on the screen to show the detail that perhaps may be difficult to see. Families can also view the different choices for vaults and markers. The new software soft-ware can show the family the loved one's name as it will appear on each choice of markers. That way, the family fami-ly can make their choices knowing what the finished product will look like. Olpin Mortuary has been a fixture in the community since 1896, first opened by Paul Olpin's great-grandfather. Olpin, the current owner and director, continues contin-ues his great-grandfather's tradition of serving the community com-munity by offering families a wide variety of services. New Utah! - Wednesday, March 7, 2001 - Page 9 Switchpoint doubles rates SwitchPoint customers in American Fork are in for a rate increase. The high-speed Internet company recently announced that basic residential resi-dential rates would increase from $19.95 to $39.95 per month. Executive Vice President Rondo Fehlberg explained the increase. "The rates we have used from the very beginning were designed to do one thing to encourage people to take a risk," he told New Utah! "We were a start-up company." Investors in the company indicated they wanted to eliminate the subsidies to the customers. "They told us they were not going to continue to pour millions of dollars into the business," said Fehlberg. A poll of some of the customers cus-tomers gave the company the indication that they would rather have the price increase and maintain the service instead of cutting back to a bare-bones operation. opera-tion. "The response was overwhelming," over-whelming," he said. "They said, TJon't take away my SwitchPoint.'" American Fork is the second sec-ond community in the nation to have a city-wide Internet network. SwitchPoint is planning on continuing to market its technology to other cities and is taking bids for construction of a system in Provo. W W P ELS S3 m Lose 30 lbs. in 30 days for $30!
