In first doubles, Jacob Wilkey and Matt Turner fell 3-6, 3-6, 1-6 in the semifinals to a duo from East. To get to that round, the pair knocked off Roy High School's double team 6-0, 3-6, 6-0. 6-0. In the second round ,they defeated Murray 6-2, 7-5 to advance to the semis. In second doubles, the brother broth-er duo of Ben and Josh Wilkey lost in the semifinals to a team from Bountiful High School that went on to wm the state title. The Wilkey brothers played well m a tough three set match 7-5, 3-6, 4-6. In the first round they toppled top-pled the doubles team from Bonneville 6-1, 6-1. In round two they beat the doubles team from Weber 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals. Vikings Kyle Anderson at first singles, Paul Meiners at second singles and Wyatt Gage at third singles all were defeated defeat-ed in the first round. Timpview High School ran away with their second straight 4A state title. In a JV tournament at Lone Peak last week, Justin Hansen beat Ryan Kell of Spanish Fork 8-1 and Ben Sheldon of Springville 9-8 m second singles sin-gles before suffering a narrow 6-8 loss to Ricky Guymon of Lone Peak m the semifinals. He lost this race but beat out Apple in the 400 to win the event title. iylor win By Dean Von Memmott For one Pleasant Grove Viking, winning the state 4A boys' 400-meter dash was not, something he expected to do. Yet, that's exactly what he did at the state track meet held at Brigham Young University May 12-13. "I never thought I would take state in the 400," said Brad Taylor right after he won the event in :48.85. "I did track mainly to get into shape for football." He placed in two other sprints in the May 13 finals. He took fourth in the boys' 100-meter 100-meter hurdles and eighth in the boys' 200. The Vikings' 1,600-meter relay team fell three seconds short of making the finals. Michelle Bishop finished sixth in the girls' long jump.
