Myrene Kemp Nixon, 71, of Pleasant Grove returned to her Heavenly Father on Feb. 14, 2000 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. She was born October 19, 1928 in Ogden, Utah to Klaus Maudsley and . Marguerite Williamsen Kemp. She was married for eternity to Robert Brunt Nixon October 7, 1948 in the Idaho Falls Temple. She grew up in Santa Barbara, California, and graduated from Santa Barbara High School. She later attended the 'University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of Utah. She was a featured soloist with the Utah Symphony and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in which she was a member for 20 years. She also performed in many productions at the Promised Valley Playhouse and the Pioneer Memorial Theater. Her civic accomplishments include President of the National Association Teachers of Singing, Utah Chapter; Opera Appreciation Club, and Music Circle of Utah. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She held many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She and Robert served on the Temple Square Concert Series Committee. She also served a full-time mission with her eternal companion to the New Zealand, Auckland Mission. She touched many lives not only through her music, but also through her gentle,, loving compassion for others. She emulated the love of Christ. She felt her greatest accomplishment was her six children. Survivors include her husband hus-band Robert of Pleasant Grove; children: Rebecca Myrene (Mark) Barraclough, Pleasant Grove; Robert B. (Pamela) Nixon Jr., Taylorsville; G. Kem (Pat) Nixon, Liberty, Missouri; Teresa Rachelle (Shane) Newbold, Sandy; Captain Barry Nephi (Sandi) Nixon, Misawa, AB, Japan; Dean Noall (Andrea) Nixon, St. George; 28 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Additional survivors sur-vivors include her brother Karl (Kay) Kemp; and her sister Aileen (Robert) Jensen and her late father's wife, Wanda Haws Kemp. Funeral services were held Friday, February 18, 2000 in the Mt. Olympus First Ward Chapel, 4635 South Lanark (3315 East), Salt Lake City. Interment was in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Joan Fisher Davis Matson Alantha Joan Fisher Davis Matson, born April 2, 1918, the second child and only daughter of Maymie A 1 m i r a Matthews and Howard Elmer Fisher, passed from this life surrounded sur-rounded by her loving family on February 19, 2000. She was born at the home of her maternal grandparents in Port Angeles, Washington and was named after Joan of Arc and her grandmother, both strong, devout and selfless women, well emulated by her namesake. Joan's maternal and paternal pater-nal grandparents were among the earliest settlers of Port Angeles, Washington, leading to her lifelong interest in local histories his-tories and genealogy. She extensively exten-sively documented events and relationships of Clallam County, Washington. Joan was raised by her grandmother after the early death of her mother. She graduated gradu-ated from Port Angeles High School in 1936. In 1942, she married Elmer H. Davis. From this union of 20 years came four sons: Elmer H., Rudy P., Jon D., and Jared L. Davis. When her youngest child entered the first grade, Joan I 4 ' J ' ' X i "TO- - L I I returned to school to pursue a nursing degree. She spent many rewarding years profes sionally and caring for patients. Joan worked for BYU Health services ser-vices for 17 years. I n 1973, she married Arne A. Matson and enjoyed many happy years sharing her life with him. She also was pleased to have gained a daughter, Rae Nae S. Hutchinson, through this marriage. Joan is survived by her eternal eter-nal companion, sons, daughter, 10 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Box 1327, Port Angeles, Washington 98362 Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Edgemont 3rd Ward Chapel, 350 East 2950 North, Provo, Utah. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the ward chapel. Interment' to follow fol-low March 4th at the Ocean View Cemetery, Port Angeles, Washington. Local arrangements arrange-ments made by Berg Mortuary, Provo. Andrew John Schow Andrew John Schow was born April 24, 1977 in Provo, Utah to Craig Wm. and Susan M. Schow. Andrew grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah and attended Manila Elementary, Pleasant Grove Junior High and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1995. Andrew attended Brigham Young University for one year and then served an LDS mission in the Canada Halifax Mission from 1996 to 1998. After his mission, mis-sion, Andrew returned to his studies at Brigham Young University. Andrew passed away on February 19, 2000 from injuries received in a car acci- Andrew is survived by his mother and , father of Pleasant Grove; a grandmother, Anita Kilboume; grandfather, Russell Stewart Schow; four sisters: Elizabeth (Sean) Tracy, Gastonia, North Carolina; Melissa (Gregory) Keetch, Pleasant Grove; Amelia and TristaSue Schow, Pleasant Grove; two brothers: Elder Thomas David Schow, serving in the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission, and Elder Philip Elisha Schow called to the Chile Santiago West Mission; two nieces and one nephew; and countless friends and extended family members. Funeral sendees will be held Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Northfield Third Ward Chapel, 408 West 1300 North, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to services. Gene Harvey inducted into Auto Dealers Hall of Fame Long-time North Utah County auto dealer Gene Harvey has been inducted into the Utah Automobile Dealers' Association (UADA) Hall of Fame. In an awards banquet to open this year's New Car Auto Show at the Salt Palace, Harvey was given the recognition. recogni-tion. The honor has been given for the last 20 years to recognize recog-nize Utah's automotive dealers who exemplify high standards in business practices and community com-munity service. He joined the business in 1949 as a salesman at Alpine Motor Company. In 1957 he became a partner in the Chevrolet dealership, Timpanogos Motor Company. He took over as the sole owner in 1968, and built a new facility facili-ty at the present location of Gene Harvey in 1976. The UADA commended Harvey and emphasized that the community has been fortunate fortu-nate to have him serve in many capacities in and out of the automotive business. He has served on the UADA Insurance Board for 12 years and was the UADA president in 1974. He was appointed to the General Motors Dealers' Advisory Council, the Regional Factory dealer Relations Council, and has also received the prestigious Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award in 1979. In the community has included serving as president of the American Fork Chamber of Commerce, president of the Alpine Country Club, and director of the Utah County United Fund. He has been an LDS bishop, and branch president at the Missionary Training Center.
