Thursday, February 20, 2003, they walked together as mother and daughter. Margie Lynn Callister McCown was born on June 27, 1942 to Donald Delbert Callister and Donna Callister in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was there, at age 5, her eyes first sparkled as the first ray of sun she ever saw glistened on the Angel Moroni on the Salt Lake Temple. An active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous callings over the years. She married her eternal companion, Harold Glenn McCown, on September 2, 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple. More talents emerged when she became the mother of four. She was "the best Family Home Evening giver" sometimes as many as 3 or 4 times a week. Summer "college", walking miles on end (kids in tow), and "moving mountains" to attend concerts, plays, recitals, and games to support her children. Despite her. life challenges, she proved "Impossible Dreams" can be possible. She excelled in school and attended BYU and Westminster College. Her eloquent elo-quent way of writing and public speaking cannot be matched as she wrote for ZCMI, LDS Church callings, Orem-Geneva Times, M.S. Society, and the Utah Peace Officers Association. Her devotion to her writing ceased only as the early morning hours produced "White Knights and Castles" instead of the article. Many sleepless nights produced unbelievable unbe-lievable writing projects. She was member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Among the awards she received, were the Kern County M. S. Mother of the Year Award, Utah County M.S. Volunteer of the Year, and the Walter C. Orem Award from Orem City. According to Mayor Mangum, she was the only reporter he ever awarded a certificate for accurate reporting. She also served on the SummerFest Parade Committee when it was still held in the daytime, the Orem City Beautification Committee, and the Orem City Community Development Block Grants Committee. She loves her 16 Grandchildren and always did the "little extras" only Grandma Margie can do. She also enjoyed the phone calls, letters, pictures, and visits from all of them. Her friends provided invaluable invalu-able support through HUGS, calls, errands, and visits. During times of her struggle with M.S. she kept a smile and never gave up. She learned to live with it and not miss out on life, serving a great example for her family and all those lives she touched. She dreamed her Impossible Dream. She fought her unbeatable unbeat-able foe. She strove when her legs were too weary. She reached her unreachable star. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Delbert Callister and Donna Callister, her sisters Tamara Jean Barron and Mary Ardel Nester. She is survived by her husband, hus-band, Harold Glenn McCown, her children Teri Marie (David) Davenport, Harold Brian (Pat) McCown, Kristen Noel (Kerry) Sorensen, and Minda Dawn McCown; her brother Donald Robert (Vicki) Callister and those 16 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 28, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Cascade Chapel at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem. Friends may call Thursday from 6:30 to 8;30 p.m. at the mortuary and also Friday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
