Mark Hardman, the only boy's basketball coach the T-Wolves T-Wolves have ever had, brings home the first region championship trophy the school has ever had in the sport. "We've been so close for the last three years," he said. "For us to finally get one is a great complement for this team and this school." The school owes its thanks to Mac Nelson and Eddie Norton. After trailing by ten at halftime, the Bruins roared back into the game and almost pushed off the celebration cele-bration to another day. In the third quarter, Danny Johnson and Nate Allman hit three-pointers to cut the deficit. Later, a Timpanogos turnover resulted in an Allman three-point play. Before Allman could shoot the free throw, a Timpanogos fan dressed up as a chicken stormed out on the court causing the T-Wolves to be assessed a technical foul. The fans were warned earlier earli-er after someone through a live chicken onto the court. Johnson hit both free throws from the technical and the Bruins were awarded award-ed the ball. Chad Larsen tied the game with 3:45 remaining in the third. The score was tied going into the fourth. Sophomore Shawn Yeates hit a three and Kurt Becker hit a layup to give the Wolves a four-point four-point lead halfway through the period. Nelson, who scored 18 of his 29 in the second half and overtime, hit a jumper in the lane to give the MVHS baseball program sponsoring auction, dinner A fundraising auction and dinner will take place at Mountain View High School tonight in the commons com-mons area. Johnson, the Bruins leading lead-ing scorer with 24, was not going to let his team go quietly. qui-etly. He hit a baseline jumper to tie the game and force overtime. The overtime did not start well for the Wolves. Allman hit a three and then followed with a jump shot to give Mountain View a five-point five-point lead. The Bruins had an opportunity oppor-tunity to add to the lead and put the game away but a costly traveling violation gave the ball back to Timpanogos and to Norton. Larsen picked up his fifth foul sending Norton to the line. He hit both. On the next possession, he hit a three to tie the game. "We had a moment to huddle before Eddie went to free throw line. I didn't say anything to them. Eddie Norton said 'We are not going to lose this game.' He said it and then he did it. That tells you a lot about him and the leadership on this team." The Bruins missed on their next two possessions. Mike Weitzeil rebounded a missed shot and put it back to give the Wolves a lead that they would not relinquish. relin-quish. Norton hit another two free throws. Then Nelson hit five-of-six from the line to keep the Bruins at bay. With four and a half minutes min-utes remaining in the first half, Timpanogos coach Robert Louder told his team to hold the ball. For the next three minutes, junior Kristin Louder held the ball in her arms as the Bruins did not want to press the Wolves and cause another turnover.
