Show m vf m Thursday, July 12, 2007 NORTH COUNTY NEWSPAPERS Page 17 Obituaries Daniel Joseph Gorrell January 18, 1979 -July 8f 2007 Michael James Penovich March 5,1969 July 5, 2007 i - Daniel, resident of Midvale, Utah, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning at Cottonwood Hospital in Salt Lake City. Born in Provo, he grew up in Highland, Utah. Dan graduated from American Ameri-can Fork High School and the University of Utah. Since graduation Dan has worked in Information Technology for the U of U Law School. He was loved by those he worked with and found great enjoyment in using his myriad myr-iad of skills and pleasant, gracious demeanor in meeting their needs. He loved his work and provided excellent leadership for his team. In his youth, Dan loved scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Dan also loved martial arts and mastered several different styles as well as establishing enduring en-during friendships with teachers and fellow students. He served for a brief time in the Lithuania, Vilnius Vilni-us Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he taught the people of Estonia. His greatest joy was his son Parker. They loved to spend time together in the outdoors and working on projects. He has been particularly blessed In recent months through his love for Misty and her children Drake and Edie. Dan was particularly close to his sister and two brothers. They have been best friends forever and they are his greatest fans. Dan is survived by his son Parker; Parents Denise and Jerry Gorrell of Highland, UT; Brother and Sister-in-law Christopher and Megan Gorrell and baby Miley of Provo; Sister and Brother-in-law Ashley and Ryan Purser and baby Logan of Provo; Brother Kyle serving in the San Juan, Puerto Rico West Mission; Grandmas Marie Campbell of Highland, Utah and Ellen Gorrell of Buckley, Washington; as well as many beloved be-loved Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Funeral services for Dan will be held Friday, July 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Highland IDS Stake Center, 5335 West 11200 North, Highland, Utah Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Waren-ski Waren-ski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah and an additional viewing at the church on Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Highland City Cemetery. A trust fund has been established es-tablished for Parker. Much loved husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, and co-worker passed away on July 5, 2007, from an automobile automo-bile accident. He was born March 5, 1969, in Van Nuys, CA. Mike is survived by his wife and sweetheart, sweet-heart, Shelly (Barnes), and the "joys of his life" son Cotton, and daughter, Chyann all of Cedar Valley, Utah. His loving parents, Judy Austin and Carmen Penovich brother, Charlie, (Christina) Penovich, Chandler, AZ, father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Laura Barnes, Highland, UT, brothers and sister-in-law, Blaine and Jessica Barnes, West Jordan, UT, Roger and Tina Morgan, Lett, UT, Jeff and Lori Barnes, Alpine, UT, 4 nieces, and 10 nephews. Mike was an active member of the High School Rodeo Association, Associa-tion, PRCA, and Western States Rodeo Association. Mike placed in many events in the high school rodeos. Mike graduated from Lehi High School. Mike married Shelly Barnes on February 21, 1992 in Lehi Utah Mike was very adventurous and young at heart, enjoying everything from fishing with his family, to watching his children in activities like baseball and gymnastics. Mike finally found his nitch in life helping people through the Fire Department. Mike started out as a volunteer fire fighter in Cedar Valley Val-ley and moved into the Fire Chief position. Mike continued there for approximately 7 years. He worked for the Public Works Department in Saratoga Springs and made such a great impression on them, that they offered him the position of Fire Chief where he was currently cur-rently serving. Mike always found a way to bless the lives of those John Robert "Bob" Carson Pleasant Grove, UT - On November No-vember 5, 1923, John Robert Carson was born to Elmeda and William Mat thew Carson in Fairfield, Utah Bob married Emma Lou Millet on May 22, 1947. They proudly raised five children: Helen Carson, Car-son, Pleasant Grove; Kris-tine Kris-tine Carson (Brian Martin), Sandy; San-dy; Michael Carson (Suzan), Sacramento, Sac-ramento, CA; Vicky Carson-Brazil (John), Fortuna, CA; Debbi Fugal (Brig), Park City; 14 grandchildren grandchil-dren and seven great-grandchildren. He left us July 8, 2007, to be with Mom. He was preceded in death by his parents and his seven brothers and sisters. Dad grew up in Lehi graduating graduat-ing from Lehi High School. He served in the Merchant Marines from May, 1943 to April, 1946 and retired from Geneva Steel after 31 years of service in the boiler room. During the hours he wasn't working at Geneva he built, remodeled and roofed several homes around Utah, California and Alaska. He built the original Evangelical Free Church in Orem. After retiring he spent many hours in his shop building over 100 grandfather clocks, numerous wall clocks and furniture for all of his family and many friends. He is a life time member of Story Sto-ry Lodge 4, Free and Accepted Masons of Utah, was Worshipful Master of Damascus Lodge 10 in 1966 and Story Lodge 4 in 1992. He also was a member of Tintic Chapter No. 18, Order of the Eastern East-ern Star. Masonic services will be held on Friday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the home he built and lived in for 54 years at 855 North 300 East, Pleasant Grove, UT. Mike had the ability to spread joy with his contagious laughter, smile, and spontaneous wit.
