Toll F,'44IB464 I N f GOOD F1SIIING po" Aiiphin CLOSE TO HOME f fear of the gat pump has you scrambling to find places to take the family fam-ily fishing this weekend, read on, because there are plenty of great spots to fish that won't burn a hole in your wallet getting there. I Utah Laks and Its tributaries: tributar-ies: Catfish are being taken now in all the usual places Bird Island, any of the harbors har-bors and in two4o-four feet of water in and around the heavy reeds. Shrimp, night crawlers, stink bait and frozen minnows are all working well, as long as fish are in the area Hint don't spend all day in one spot. Move around until you find fish very quickly after a cast. Also, white bass are still in tlie tributaries and can be taken with small spinners, jigs and night crawlers. I Deer Creek: The bass are spawning this week and are easy to catch from the shore of from a boat. Just wacky rig a Senko and let is sink to the bottom, then reel it in and repeat it's that simple. ITMfeFMfc This bone of my favorite dose-by destinations, destina-tions, located in American Fork Canyon. The DWR tells me it will be stocked this week so fishing should be great. Power-bait, Power-bait, spinners and night crawlers crawl-ers should do the trick. Remember Remem-ber to use a boMer if the grass is growing too high from the bottom to allow a sinker. I Salem Pond: This is a great area to fish and should be stocked before Memorial Day. Those who fish Salem Pond consistently have enjoyed the lake trout that were stocked into the kike last fall. I Creeks and streams: ffearly all the ktcal streams and creeks have been stocked within the past week or so. My favorite method for catching fish in small streams is to use Salmon eggs, night crawlers or a tiny spinner (Blue Fox). You must avoid being seen, especially in areas that hold populat ions of brown trout. Maple Lake, Payson Lakes, Vernon and Grantsville Reservoirs Reser-voirs will all be stocked or have' been stocked within the week.
