Steel Days celebration called a success Sunny skies and warm breezes brought favorable conditions for American Fork residents to enjoy the annual Steel Days celebration. ; Crowds turned out to many favorite events, including the parade, carnival, Big show, car, quilt, doll and art shows, fish scramble, cruise, burnout, baby contest, 5K, kids' race, fireworks and more. Steel Days committee chair Mark Brown offered thanks to those who participated in the events. "On behalf of the American Fork , Steel Days Committee, I would like to thank everyone who made this .year's celebration a success," he, said. "A city celebration can only be successful if the residents are involved and we thank you for com ing out and participating at all the events. "I would personally like to express my appreciation to the members of the Steel Days Committee Commit-tee and those who helped in any way. There are hundreds of hours of planning and preparation that are volunteered each year. I would also like to thank the Police, EMS, and Fire Departments, American Fork City staff and employees, American Fork High School, and the Utah County Sheriffs Posse. "Especially appreciated is generous contributions from local businesses. Thank you much for your support. Plans are already underway for next year's celebration. If you would like to the our so volunteer to help in any way, or if you have any suggestions or ideas for improvement, please contact a member of the Steel Days Committee Commit-tee or the American Fork city offices." Some apparent problems were less than they originally appeared. One 9-year-old boy ran across 100 East during the parade. When he returned to pick up a dropped water bottle, he collapsed to the ground. A bystander called 911. Ambulance personnel cooled him off and gave him oxygen. He was not transported for further medical care. At the carnival, a 26-year-old woman was transported to Tim-panogos Tim-panogos Hospital after suffering a seizure while on one of the rides.
