The year Pleasant Grove Junior High School opened, William Spence opened his door at the school. He has taught longer there than any other teacher - 27 years. This history teacher loves his subject sub-ject and gets his students involved in their community, state and nation. He builds a faith in them that they can contribute for the good of their world and actually make changes for the better. For instance, even in his advisory class this year, he got students involved. They did a project where they wrote changes in city ordinances ordi-nances regarding the city park and actually made changes in the city. A true active professional, Spence has been the Btate coordinator for Project Citizen Citi-zen as well as Outstanding History Teacher of the Year for the State of Utah. In addition, addi-tion, he has been on the board of directors for the Utah State Social Studies. Council and has assisted in both state and national conventions.
